In addition, CSO Rehr-Zimmermann has tirelessly assisted patrol officers and the Investigations Bureau with case follow-up and retrieving surveillance footage, taking a massive volume of reports. Thank you, CSO Rehr-Zimmermann, for your "can do" attitude, outstanding work, and commitment to SCPD and our community. Well done, SCPD Employee of the Month!

We'll miss the costumes. See you next year! Due to the ever-changing circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the City has canceled the traditional Halloween Celebration Downtown. It would be near impossible to maintain a safe social distance if everyone took to the streets. The Downtown Halloween festivities are canceled altogether due to CDC crowd limitations and individuals' health risk in one shared airspace. Because of the Halloween event cancellation per the ...City & Downtown Association, there will be NO EXTRA Lighting, NO EXTRA Porta Pottys, NO EXTRA Street Closures downtown. Pacific Avenue remains open to traffic and not blocked off as in past years for pedestrian use. To encourage respectful behavior, SCPD will be proactively enforcing a triple-fine Safety Enhancement Zone from 5 p.m on Friday, Oct. 30 through 7 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Downtown area. Triple fines are to discourage rowdy and lewd behavior generally related to alcohol-fueled problems such as open containers, public intoxication, trespassing, littering, traffic violations, and inappropriate behavior throughout the night. Businesses and restaurants will be open for regular service, but there will be no trick-or-treating. The City appreciates its residents' patience and understanding as it works to mitigate community risk. Residents are encouraged to comply with local and State Health Officer orders.
