We had the good fortune of attending a birth recently with local doula Gretchen Retka @yourholisticsister We were grateful for her calm, confident presence and her reassurance and comfort to our mutual client. Also, SHE DOES MASSAGE! You can find out more about her at www.holistic-sister.com . . . .... . . #midwife #midwifery #waterbirth #mama #naturalbirth #midwives #childbirth #breastfeeding #motherhood #newborn #pregnant #homebirth #pregnancy #birth #doula #doulacare #birthdoula #massagetherapist #massage #birthwithoutfear #naturalbirth #motherhood #newborn #empoweredbirth #maternity #family #newborn #love See more

When a "standard of care" decision arises, we take the time to discuss all your options.

**NEW PARENT MEET UP INFO** We’re feeling pretty tired y’all. We know that the meet up in the park is scheduled for TODAY from 10-12. But since we’ve been up all night, we’re not going to make it (you’ll have this from time to time with midwives). But there’s no reason you all can’t meet up and we hope you do! Send us photos!

Feeling grateful to catch babies in a place where we get to go walk on the beach after.

YOGA IN THE PARK!!! Join @hannah_muse and @madronemagic every Tuesday & Thursday from 10:30-12:00 at Frederick Street Park!

NEW DAY!!!!! We have changed our Meet Up day to FRIDAYS. @hannah_muse and @madronemagic had the same BRILLIANT idea that we had - to get outside, enjoy the weather and gather with other new/expectant parents. We just scheduled on the same day, same time, at the same park (again, brilliant minds think alike, right?). This way, YOU CAN DO BOTH! So, go to yoga on Tuesday/Thursday and come to our support group 1st & 3rd Friday. See you there!

Sometimes you just need your sister. We have had the honor now of supporting both these amazing mamas at their births. Their connection, love for each other, and the support that they give each other is a beautiful thing to witness. @stephanie.kerwin Photo posted with permission.

Placenta prints! If you get the canvases, we will make placenta prints for you after the birth. We are basically artists now. We are pretty proud of how these turned out.

At Santa Cruz Midwives, we provide three in-home postpartum visits in the first week! We see you back in the office at two weeks (for a massage!!!) and then we wrap up care at 6-weeks.

Two November’s ago, on a very cold night in the Santa Cruz Mountains we got the privilege of watching this dear one tumble into earthly existence in glorious watery perfection. This fall, she welcomed a baby sister on to the planet. Verity is still perfect in every way, however, a year ago she became deaf due to a severe and life threatening meningitis infection. She’s strong as heaven so of course she made it, but she has a long road ahead of her. As midwives, it’s hard to witness the little ones and families that fill our lives with such wondrous light go through anything of this sort. When her family made a donation page there was no question of us sharing it with you all. During these times of distance, we’re left with few ways to hold onto eachother. If you would like to donate link is in the bio.

I cannot express how little I care that you hate the photos. How little I care that it’s something you wouldn’t have done. I lived it, I chose to do it, and more than anything, these photos aren’t for anyone but the people who have lived this or are curious enough to wonder what something like this is like. These photos are only for the people who need them. The thoughts of others do not matter to me. Thank you for sharing your story. @chrissyteigen

If you have given birth to a tiny human with a penis, you may already know what these are. Y’all, WE’VE GOT PEEPEE TEEPEES!!! How cute are these? A dear client made these and gifted them to us and we can’t wait to change some diapers so we can use them. Also, do you notice that she used Santa Cruz Midwives colors? Her Etsy shop will be up and running soon and will feature many handmade baby goods as cool as these. Stay tuned! . . #santacruzmidwives #midwives #midwifery #peepeeteepee #handmade #homebirth #birthathome #midwife #diaperchange
