March 14th Game Postponed Dear SCDG Friends and Fans, With great disappointment, the Santa Cruz Derby Girls have decided to postpone our Saturday, March 14th Game at the Civic Auditorium. Based on the recommendation from the Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency, we feel we should act with caution to protect our community in slowing the transmission rate of the COVID-19 outbreak. ... We did not make this decision lightly as we have many people working to make our game an exciting, family-friendly event. However, we are deeply committed to the health and well-being of our players, fans and community so postponing this game is in the best interest of everyone involved. We are working with the Civic Auditorium to reschedule the game. If you have already purchased tickets for March 14th, you may use those tickets at an upcoming 2020 game date - May 30th, August 22nd, October 24th, or the rescheduled game TBD. If you wish to consider the cost of your ticket as a tax-deductible donation to the Santa Cruz Derby Girls, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, please email [email protected]. Or, you may receive a refund from the Civic Auditorium by calling 831-420-5260, Tuesdays-Fridays from 11am-6pm or email [email protected]. Thank you to all our fans, sponsors, and volunteers for your support during these unprecedented times. We look forward to seeing you at our next game! As community members, we have a right and a responsibility to engage in the community we live in. City Council meetings have historically had low attendance, but your voice can be heard through democratic means like these. There are city council meetings for the city of Santa Cruz and Watsonville online today, and are now more accessible through voice call, video chat, and zoom. If you’ve never been to a city council meeting, now is your chance to see how your city works and... engage in the political process outside of voting! We will continue to be posting links for community events, highlighting local organizations, and promoting helpful resources. These will be a part of our feed, along with our weekly derby update posts to keep connected and showing the derby love to our wonderful Santa Cruz community during this time!
