#Coronavirus has made #healthcare a top issue of the election

I spent an 1.5 hours on the phone with CVS Speciality Pharmacy Thurs. My orthopedic Dr put in for approval by Aetna so he could order gel to cushion & heal the... pain & snapping in my knee. CVS called & left a message for me to call them. They are NOT my chosen pharmacy, so no clue why they were calling. Well it was for the gel for my knee. Turns out there is a $500 Rx copay for the 6 gel doses. Also turns out Aetna, the insurance company we have at work requires we use CVS pharmacy for this. Aetna & CVS are one company, one wholly owns the other. I've already met my maximum deductible for the year. This gel because it's listed as an Rx is not covered by the maximum out of pocket for my plan. When I asked about Good Rx or other plans to reduce cost they referred me to the manufacturer & gave me the phone number. They did not like me referring to Aetna/CVS holding the medical gel hostage until payment is made. Aetna already billed my account the $500 on Oct 14th. I did not find out about the gel approval, it being ready or the copay until Wed Oct 21. I have to call CVS Speciality Pharmacy back with either the manufacturer discount code or at least a payment of 60% for them to release my gel for injections. They made a big deal about socialized health care & not having choices at the debate. Well from my experiences I have little choice already AND most of the costs. I'll take national healthcare any day. Medicare for all just make sense, saves money & gets rid of price gouging insurance companies playing doctor. See more
