It's Thankful Thursday, and we are grateful for the special donor who took our Bethel House ladies to the Arise women's conference. Our residents enjoyed their stay at a nice hotel and being empowered by other women of faith.
We celebrated freedom on Independence Day with our homeless guests and residents in the recovery program. They enjoyed the food, games, and raffle prizes provided by our Women's Auxiliary. Photo album provided by Dale Weber.
Our Homeless Guest Services Director, Kevin Carroll, is a great sport. Our guests loved dunking him!
A great day to celebrate freedom with our recovery residents and homeless guests!
Lasting transformation doesn’t happen overnight. It takes patience, dedication, the right support, proper tools, and time. Most important of all, it takes God’s love. If you take even one of those elements away, the whole thing falls apart. That’s why your support is so important. When you give, you change lives!
Having begun drinking in elementary school and battling addiction all through his 20s, Mike thought he was doomed to addiction. Then he came to the Mission. He discovered that no one is ever doomed, and everyone can thrive!
It's a Thankful Thursday! The men in our recovery program had a fun day in LA at the La Brea Tar Pits, LACMA Museum, and their favorite Petersen Automotive Museum.
Many of us have spent the last year wanting things to go back to normal. But normal for our hungry, homeless, and addicted neighbors is a nightmare. So what would happen if, instead of thinking about trying to get back to normal, we focus on our whole community thriving?
What do these five men in our recovery program have in common? They are dads tuned in to an online parenting class to become better fathers for their kids! Please wish these guys a happy Father's Day!
If you are shopping this weekend, will you add towels to your list? We need towels and will gladly take them new or gently used. We prefer white so we can bleach them. You can drop them off at our office (535 E. Yanonali St.) Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM.
It's Thankful Thursday, and we are grateful for our Women's Auxiliary! Juanita and Alice are our Blessing Box Buddies. They create our Blessing Boxes for all residents in our 12-month Recovery Program who arrive here with nothing.
Our Homeless Guest Services team member, Michael, gave a thumbs up to one of our homeless guests before he boarded the train to his new home. He is a vet and entitled to benefits that our team was able to connect him with.
A group of 20 kids came here to serve dinner to our homeless guests. Allen, one of the men in our 12-month Recovery Program, shared his story and why he is in the program. It's beginning to return to normal around here!
Thankful Thursday, and we grateful for our Women's Auxiliary, who came together in person this week for the first time in over a year.
Our refrigerator and freezer are ready to receive turkeys for the upcoming holidays!
We are grateful for the newfound freedom from addiction our graduates experience from doing the hard work required in our 12-month Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program. Mike is now on our team serving our homeless guests. Let's thank Mike for giving back!
Freddie, our kitchen services supervisor, is making sure we are prepared to feed everyone who comes to us this holiday season! How are you preparing for Thanksgiving?

Our annual Bayou event looked very different this year as we all stayed socially distanced and in our own social bubbles of safety. We are grateful for all those who hosted watch parties to keep everyone safe and for our Women's Auxiliary who brought the party to all of our Bayou Derby guests!
We are so grateful for the Women's Auxiliary and all of our friends and donors who WATCHED this video and celebrated our Bayou Derby in the safety of their homes on Saturday!
We are grateful for how our Women's Auxiliary, donors, and friends came together to recreate our Bayou on Saturday afternoon to raise significant funding so that more men and women will be saved in the year to come. https://www.independent.com//santa-barbara-rescue-mission/
The Bayou Derby Hat Contest is well underway! #bayouderby
It's Thankful Thursday, and we are grateful for Ray! He is a former homeless guest who recently moved into an apartment, and he's an incredible artist! He gifted this painting to us to be auctioned off at our annual Bayou event. #bayouderby
A beautiful thing is that our child will never have to see me drunk or loaded. -Travis
