On of the more interesting Modalities we teach here at the Santa Barbara Body Therapy Institute is Barefoot Massage. Yes,,,the client lays on a matt as the therapist works on their body using their feet! Barefoot Massage is a series of highly effective protocols. These protocols can address myofascial pain and dysfunction. An all too common source of misery for people from all ages and walks of life. Our classes are taught in open outdoor locations, or via Zoom for those... who prefer online learning. Here are a series of photos taken from what Katie fondly calls 'Under the Mulberry Tree'. All Protocols for Covid-19 are diligently followed.#SantaBarbaraBodyTherapyInstitute #Multitaskingteachingoutdoorsandzoom #BarefootMassage #MaskMandateHonored #studentsmakingithappen #WhereLivesChange #UndertheMulberryTree #SantaBarbaraBodyTherapyInstitute #HolisticMassage . Cranial Sacral Class in lovely Santa Barbara, Ca. Outdoors... lCraniosacral therapy (CST) is a form of touch therapy that has been used for treatment and prevention of migraines, as well as several other chronic pain conditions. The technique was developed in the 1970s by Dr. John Upledger, an osteopathic practitioner and co-founder of the Upledger Institute in Florida. It’s a type of bodywork that relieves compression in the bones of the head, sacrum (a triangular bone in... the lower back), and spinal column. CST is noninvasive. It uses gentle pressure on the head, neck, and back to relieve the stress and pain caused by compression. It can, as a result, help to treat a number of conditions. It’s thought that through the gentle manipulation of the bones in the skull, spine, and pelvis, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system can be normalized. This removes blockages from the normal flow, which enhances the body’s ability to heal. Our Instructor Mary Sullivan is a renowned Cranial Sacral Specialist, among her many other talents. She has a wonderful and unique way of teaching this special, wonderful technique. When students are practicing on one another, she will sometimes read us poetry for inspiration or play her Dulcimer. A very simple 4 string instrument. The music provides a very calming effect and blends well with the treatment. A must-have experience!!! #SantaBarbaraBodyTherapyInstitute #CranialSacralTherapy #SundayFunday #Studentsatclass #OutdoorTeaching #MarySulllivan,InsstructorBodyworker #studentsMaskUp #Covid-19Protocol #WhereLifeChanges

Swedish massage was icreated by a Swedish fencing instructor named Per Henrik Ling in the 1830s. When he injured his elbows, he reportedly cured himself using tapping (percussion) strokes around the affected area. He later developed the technique currently known as Swedish massage. One cannot help but wonderwas he aware of the magnificent gift he was bestowing on Civilization?... Massage is not only therapeutic. Massage is comforting. Massage is soothing. Massage is of great benefit not only to the Body, but to the Mind, Heart and Soul. Massage is beneficial to all bodies..at any ageMassage is a Holistic tool that can guide our bodies to self-healing.
