Ever heard someone say "muscle turns to fat as soon as you stop weight training"? Well, that’s about as plausible as sugar turning to salt, a cat becoming a dog, or oil turning to water. Muscle cells and fat cells are entirely different on a molecular level. One can’t become the other. So what really happens when you stop weight lifting? The muscles you’ve tightened and strengthened will begin to weaken. Eventually, your muscle mass will shrink, leading to less definition and tone. And then the fat creeps in, right? Well, not necessarily. As professional bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman notes, you won’t magically develop more fatunless you suddenly begin consuming more calories than you burn.

We have loved welcoming you back over the past couple of weeks, so we’re working hard to be flexible during these uncertain times but we are pleased to let you know that we are continuing to stay open. Governor Newsom announced the re-closure of fitness centers in our county unless they can be modified to operate outside only. In accordance with this mandate, starting July 14, we’re closing all indoor workout areas. Our open-air workout areas and pool deck will remain open. A...dditional equipment will be added outdoors in the coming week. New Hours Mondays Fridays, 6 am 7 pm Saturdays & Sundays, 7 am 5 pm Temperature Checks & Masks We will continue to check temperatures at the door. Anyone with a temp over 100F will not be allowed to enter. Masks are required when checking into the club and in all outdoor areas if you cannot maintain proper social distancing 6 feet! Added Benefit - Cathedral Oaks Athletic Club For the time being, we’re happy to extend your membership to our Cathedral Oaks location. Did you know the healthiest option is usually making your own cocktails at home? A classic gin and tonic with a healthy spin is the perfect choice to celebrate #WorldCocktailDay and we've got the recipe from Salt and Wind right here - all you need is gin, ice, tonic water, fresh rosemary, and fruit 1 1/2 ounces gin Ice cubes 7 ounces tonic water... Clementine, or mandarin, or tangerine slices (whatever fruit you have on hand) 1 sprig fresh rosemary Add the gin to your glass. Add enough ice cubes to fill the glass, then fill with tonic water. Garnish with a slice of citrus and a sprig of rosemary and cheers!

This includes having dedicated staff wiping hard surfaces and frequently used items such as all equipment, doorknobs, and handrails with disinfectants that qualify under the EPA Emerging Viral Pathogen Policy for SARS-CoV-2. We are also utilizing the same disinfectant to deep clean the club every night. Taking Care of Our Team: We are nothing without our team. To ensure that our staff is healthy and safe, we’re encouraging precautionary health measures such as staying home when sick and frequent hand washing. We are closely monitoring the rapidly changing news surrounding COVID-19 and its effect on our community. We will remain open at this time with classes and activities as regularly scheduled.
