Know your risks: Children, seniors, and pets are at higher risk of heat-related illnesses. Additionally, those who live in urban neighborhoods experience higher temperatures due to the amount of concrete/asphalt and taller buildings. Anyone who works outside is also at high risk without precautions. . Limit... your exposure: Slow down and drink plenty of hydrating liquids, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid too much sun - sunburns slow skin's ability to cool itself. Stay inside as much as possible. . If you must work outside, use a buddy system to make sure you are drinking enough water and can look out for symptoms of heat related illnesses. .
