Show us your covid projects! Photo from an Alaskan rockhound.
Happy 2021! So I’ve started a new job and my coworker wanted to do a talk on rocks and brought in some of the cabs and pieces his father had made in the 50’s... I’ve never been a fan of thunder eggs.. but look at this miracle!! He had both sides. The other slice did not have the line for the sails and the boat was squishy... talk about a lucky cut! Anyone else have an amazing thunder egg? Post a photo!
Gonna need another bucket
Stunning piece .. what are you wire wrapping these days?
Something everyone can agree on... this is amazing
The only thing ive discovered digging in my yard was broken irrigation. What about you?
Wire wrapping taken to the next NEXT level. So incredibly beautiful I had to share.
Can you imagine having a chunk of Morgan Hill poppy and making a GIANT cab?!!! Put them kids to work!
When you keep digging and digging you never know what you may find
Sharing this post because well.. its a GREAT question and look at this awesome results! Has anyone done this before? If so what bits do you recommend?
Wire wrapping taken to the next NEXT level. So incredibly beautiful I had to share.
Sept 16 - SSU geology department virtual presentation: connecting wildfire and earthquakes. You must pre register.
Who else did a double take? Thought that was a real rose
Who's ready for a distraction?!! I saw this Virtual field trip to the National Parks (Desert Edition) 8/27/20 hosted by Atlas Obscura. Looking forward to interesting facts, photography and hopefully some geology information.
Strangest little estate sale ever.. neighbor past away at 93.. saw a chunk of rose quartz on the driveway next to a copper pot with dusty random rocks. $3 and it was all mine. Picking up work benches on Sunday and 55 gallon barrel of canning jars lol
Who’s up for a discussion/ debate? 1. Fossilized bamboo and grasses. Do they exist, rarity, hardness? 2. Thoughts on manufacturer trademarking fossilized and the labeling flooring?... 3. Wouldn’t fossilized flooring be stone tiles? I’m overdue for a fieldtrip.
Wow beautiful way to display prized pieces
Easy de clutter idea for your workshop
Little tidbit I learned today: When the time of volcanoes and lava was subdued and the rains came, mineral laden silica-water flowed into the cavities and pockets left by the dying trees and bubbling lava. As flow after flow slowly filled the pockets with liquefied silica, Montana Agate was born.
