Santa Monica Farmers Markets

It's National Volunteer Week and today is National Volunteer Recognition Day! . Volunteers have always been an integral part of our operations, but this year am...idst a global pandemic, our small but mighty team faced new and unprecedented challenges. We went from utilizing 10 volunteers per week, to needing over 50! . So many community members headed the call for assistance. In support of the four weekly markets, they stepped up to be entry line greeters, exit monitors, mask monitors, provide assistance at the information booth, affix COVID-19 related signs to vendor booths and chalk out markings on the ground to designate 6-feet for social distancing. . These resilient volunteers showed up rain or shine for early mornings and sometimes double shifts. They assisted our diverse customer base and helped ensure economic security for our participating farmers. They put them selves on the front line were integral in facilitated a safe market shopping experience. . So on this day, we want to highlight these incredibly versatile, generous, fun-loving, resilient, hard working and talented group of volunteers who we have come to know and love!
