The 16th District held a revitalization this past weekend to transfer the at large members into local posts. Post 56 was able to get about 20 New members to transfer. Special thanks to the only 2 members from the post to show up, Past Commanders Mike Stadnick and Frank Campo.

The post will be holding a BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, August 23 to help raise funds for one of our members that was injured in an accident and has limited health care coverage. It is estimated this veteran has over $60,000.00 in medical expenses already. If you would like to come down for a meal or just donate, please make your check out to the post.

Currently the Post has a reverse drawing to help raise money for our programs. Each ticket is $20.00. Drawing will be held on August 28, 2014. Stop by the lounge to get a ticket, or ask an Eboard member for one.

Members will receive in the mail this next week, 3 raffle tickets for a chance to win a firearm. Tickets are $10.00 each, or all 3 for $25.00. You may have a chance to win up to 3 times. If you ticket is pulled, it goes back into the drawing for another chance. The post is given a portion of the proceeds. Each year the post has participated, we have been given over $700.00 for our programs. Please consider this opportunity.

Congrats to Junior Past Commander Frank on his selection as the "Otto Haase" 16th District Legionnaire of the Year. The individual plaque is his, the larger plaque is a perpetual one that travels to the honorees post for the year. The post that has the last name on the plaque keeps it. I am confident that Commander Joe will nominate another outstanding Post 56 Legionnaire for this honor next year. Other winners from Post 56 are John Fazzone, Mike Stadnick and Richard Tilley.

Tomorrow, Joseph Skoda assumes the leadership of the post. We know the post is going to do well under your term and wish you well and look forward to working with you.

Do you want a chance to win some cash? If so, stop by the BIG WHEEL at the Elks Rodeo this week. The commander will be there selling tickets for a chance to spin the wheel and raise some money. The proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards programs that support veterans. Some lucky winners will be given the opportunity to enter the cash cage and attempt to collect as much money as they can grab in a few seconds as it floats by in the air.
