Happy Fathers’ Day to those special men in our lives, hearts and memories... the providers, protectors, defenders of freedom.
San Marino has beautiful estates with lovely tennis courts (that evil developers are splitting off for lot splits...). On a happier note, enjoy the French Open and Rosy Mischief’s reference to our famous Blue Boy at the undocumented but definitely a landmark, The Huntington Library! https://www.facebook.com//a.12119598722/2542895719166084/
General Patton & all your friends at San Marino Heritage wish you a safe, healthy Memorial Day 2021, and send eternal gratitude to all military and the lost heroes who have defended our freedom.

We sincerely hope the City of San Marino protects our municipal trees and uses the knowledge of educated professionals when making decisions regarding our historic streetscapes: https://www.thoughtco.com/best-trees-to-plant-street-and-si.
DEMO HEARINGS ALERT: 1215 St. Albans (1949) https://www.redfin.com//1215-St-Albans-Rd-911/home/7011596 and 2275 S. Oak Knoll (1954) https://www.redfin.com//2275-S-Oak-Knoll-Ave-/home/7010210 are on the chopping block tonight at the City Council. Strong opposition to the S. Oak Knoll demo has been submitted to City Council. Our appeal validated by these letter which urge denial of a permit for new construction.

THE HUNTINGTON HOTEL PICTURE BRIDGE (currently under LANGHAM ownership) : "One of the few remaining historic features on the Langham Huntington Hotel property, the Myron Hunt-designed heavy timber pedestrian Picture Bridge, which was completed in 1913, is presently in a deteriorated state. In 1933, 40 painted panels by artist Frank Montague Moore depicting various California scenes were added. Due to the bridge’s condition, the panels were removed and placed in storage. We are advising hotel staff and a team of consultants to sensitively retrofit the bridge. Construction is in progress." (Notes here are credited to our "big sister" Pasadena Heritage)
LET HISTORY LIVE: Please enjoy this photo of a mid-century San Marino maven laying the cornerstone for the San Marino Women's Club building by award-winning AIA local architect Marion Varner. (Citation: http://digitallibrary.usc.edu//p/id/81554/show/81553/rec/4). The City ( or is it City Club?) holds the long-term residents to a much higher standard when it comes to preservation.... much higher than they require for developers, it appears, and more shockingly -- themselves.....
