JULY 1, 2021 RTA and SoCo Transit will return to full fare pricing! Our bus pass sales outlets are reopening so buying a pass is doable again. Also the ticket vending machine is working at the SLO Government Center. To see our pass sales outlets visit our website: http://www.slorta.org/passes/outlets/ Masks are mandatory on board all transit vehicles, but not at the bus stops at this time. Thanks for riding with us!
It's June and our building now is starting to have an inside along with its outside. Walls, windows, office spaces are starting to show up!
Look! Its a building now! Since it never rains here and we've got a great team constructing the building, we're right on schedule.
Check out the nice article from KSBY on RTA https://www.ksby.com//rta-to-invest-further-in-zero-emissi
Our friends at SLOCOG are working on the Regional Transit Plan and would like to hear from you. "Your experiences tell the story of a transportation project or other regional issue better than data alone. Do you have a personal story about transportation and/or housing issues in San Luis Obispo County to share? We want to hear from you!" Please visit their site at https://sanluisobispocouncilofgovernments.mysocialpinpoint.
Out new building is starting to have a roof! Well, you can see where the roof is going to go. Check out all that cement. Pretty impressive, right?
Our new building actually looks like a building now that we've got walls! Progress seems to be happening quickly.
This is another one that's been a long time coming...Our new Employee of the Quarter is Paul Lockett! Paul has been working for RTA/South County Transit for over 15 and has won a safety award for 13 of those years! He is universally admired by his passengers and co-workers alike and we're so glad that he is part of our driving team. Congratulations Paul, you're one of our very best!
The CDC has a new order for public transit that requires a mask for all riders (who are over 2 years old). Masks must be worn on the bus and at the bus stop, covering your face and nose. Items no longer permitted are face shields without a mask, bandanas, scarves, gaiters or a shirt pulled up over your face. Thank you for helping to reduce the spread of COVID 19!
At the time of this notice, South Bay Boulevard is open again and we will resume regular bus service.
Noon: Thursday 1/28 Route 12 South Bay Blvd is Closed: Due to the heavy rains South Bay Boulevard has flooded and is impossible to pass through at this time. We will run one bus between SLO and Morro Bay and another from SLO to Los Osos. Its the long way around but it works! We will return to standard service as soon as we are able.
Our new building site is now going vertical! Walls are going up and there's more of those coming soon. Its starting to look like the beginnings of a building now!
Labor Day, Monday September 7, there will be no bus service on RTA, Paso Express Routes A&B, and South County Transit. We will resume service on Tuesday Morning. Have a safe and happy holiday!

Getting started on the new facility! Here is the 'before' photo, with our beautiful tower (that thing will stay), a portapotty and a cardboard sink. Its only going to get better!
Happy to announce the RTA Q2 Employee of the Quarter for 2020, Elmer Hart! Elmer has been nominated many times over the years and today is finally his time. Working through a pandemic isn't fun but it's been a lot better for all of us because of Elmer. Thanks for everything you do Elmer, you're one of our very best!
