Your #SanJoseFireFighters want to remind everyone the hotter the temperature is inside a vehicle, the harder it is for a dog, or any pet, to stay cool when hot air is the only thing they have to breathe, even if you crack a window. . . . That puts our furry friends at risk for heat stroke and death . . . When the outside temperature is 75 degrees, a car can heat up to 100 degrees in just a few minutes. We remind you that 70 degrees is too hot to leave a dog in the car, leave your fury friends at home. . . #SJFD

District Pride: Your #SanJoseFirefighters from Station 30 (Auzerais Ave.) home to Engine, Truck, and Med 30 recently paid homage to the Stephens Meat Company with this new station logo. In 1942, the son of an Italian immigrant named Stephen Pizzo opened a new meat market on Bird Road in San Jose called Stephens Meats. This iconic sign, a fixture near Diridon Station in San Jose has outlasted the business and undergone a complete renovation in recent years. . . #SJFD

Yesterday San José Officers, one on his 7th day on the job, responded to assist @SJFD with a residential fire. They assisted with an unresponsive elderly female... and immediately began giving her CPR. Quick action, teamwork, and a collaborative effort by all our San Jose first responders brought back the unresponsive female saving her life. See more

This morning your #SanJoseFireFighters responded to a fire at the 161 year old HG Wade Warehouse in Alviso. In 2003 the City declared this abandoned building historical landmark #67. Harry George Wade’s Warehouse was originally used to store hay and grain bound for San Francisco. It was later used to store stagecoaches for the Alviso to Monterey stage lines. In addition to being used by Wells Fargo and Company for stagecoach repairs, this warehouse also served as a set for Western Movies. The San José Fire Department arrived at 3:47am and found this warehouse fully involved with live power lines down. Firefighters placed the fire under control after about 1 hour. The second week of April every year is deemed Dispatcher Appreciation Week. Each year public safety dispatchers answer over 240 million calls for help nationwide. They’ll probably tell you they’re just doing their job, but the truth is they are the first, first responder in a critical chain of survival during an emergency and we thank them for their service.

2020 Scholarship Recipients - The San Jose Firefighters Burn Foundation was honored to host a small socially distanced ceremony to award the 1st ever community scholarship to Samantha Calzo and Allen Yao.
