#funfactfriday Did you know we weren't always called San Joaquin RTD? Our name has evolved with our services. The Stockton Metropolitan Transit District (SMTD) began providing service for the residents of Stockton in 1965, and adopted the nickname SMART in 1985. In 1994, legislation enabled SMART’s service area to expand to the San Joaquin County border, bringing with it a name change to reflect its expansion -- San Joaquin Regional Transit District!

RTD will be closed on 4th of July and fixed-route services will not be available. Van Go! will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to take you to your celebration! Download the Van Go! app now and book your trip up to two days in advance.

RTD will continue to work hard to provide extraordinary customer service during these challenging times.

What does RTD do to prevent incidents before they start? With a robust workplace hazard protocol, our Safety Team assesses and identifies potential risks including technical failures and environmental conditions. They hold frequent meetings, conduct monthly inspections, and promote the "See Something Say Something" campaign. RTD is proud to observe Safety Month now and every month.

Late this afternoon, an unfortunate vehicle accident occurred involving an RTD bus in Stockton. Thankfully, no one was injured. RTD is investigating the incident. More information to follow.
