Last night a local agency arrested three suspects who had just stole a purse from the front passenger seat of a vehicle as the female victim was loading groceries into her vehicle. It was discovered that these suspects were targeting lone females in parking lots of grocery stores and shopping plazas. Prior to their arrest, they were in a San Gabriel shopping plaza looking for a victim to steal from but were unsuccessful. As a reminder, please be aware of your surroundings, park in well lit and well populated areas, and don’t carry large amounts of cash. Stay Safe San Gabriel!

San Gabriel, Meet your police dispatchers. Anytime you call 9-1-1 in the City of San Gabriel one of these behind the scenes first responders will answer that call and send you help. Dispatchers are responsible for taking all 9-1-1 and business line calls, gathering information from reporting parties, dispatching units, coordinating resources, and keeping officers safe in the field. ... Sometimes callers get frustrated by the amount of questions that dispatchers ask and believe these questions are delaying help from being sent. These questions are to ensure the correct resources are dispatched and those resources have complete and accurate information required to respond and render help. While dispatchers are asking these questions, rest assured that they have already dispatched units and help is on the way. Remember if you see something say something and call one of your dispatchers at 626-308-2828 to report suspicious activity.

Thank you poll workers! Elections usually mean long days and painstaking work for these volunteers. This election looks a little different than in previous years, as poll workers wear masks, gloves, and sanitize polling areas for everyone's health and safety. #ElectionDay San Gabriel PD is also at local polling places, behind the scenes and out of an abundance of caution, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to complete their civic duty safely.

Spread Cheer by Driving Sober this Holiday Season! SGPD will have extra officers on patrol through Dec 15th actively looking for other unsafe driving practices speeding, not wearing a seat belt, driving distracted, not yielding to bicyclists or pedestrians to make sure everyone has a safe holiday. 2020 has been a tough year so let’s try and end it on a good note by being safe on the road during the holidays, said SGPD Traffic Investigator Hamel. Taking simple safety m...easures helps make sure we can all enjoy the holidays. There’s no joy in a DUI. Sober is the way to go. Remember: driving high does not fly. Marijuana, prescription drugs, and over-the-counter medications may impair, especially in combination with alcohol and other drugs. Funding for this program is provided by a grant from @CaliforniaOTS, through the @NHTSA

Earlier this month, a San Gabriel Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1800 block of South San Gabriel Boulevard. As the male passenger was exiting the vehicle, the officer noticed a bulge in his waistband. The officer realized that the bulge was a firearm and quickly removed it from his waistband. The male was subsequently taken into custody without incident. Upon closer inspection, officers discovered that the firearm was a 9 mm handgun loaded with a ...high-capacity, 30 round magazine. The firearm had no markings or serial number, making it untraceable. These homemade firearms, commonly known as ghost guns, are becoming more common. In recent weeks, the San Gabriel Police Department has recovered four ghost guns and arrested several people for firearms-related violations. This incident is a good reminder that no traffic stop is routine. The dangers that police officers face daily are very real. The officer's attention to detail and officer safety skills in this case resulted in the quick and safe apprehension of an armed suspect without any major incident. #sangabrielpolice #sgpd #gunoffthestreets #ghostgun #waistband
