Today is World Rabies Day! End Rabies: Collaborate, Vaccinate The Rabies Alliance has a goal to end human rabies deaths by the year of 2030. Vaccinating your pets against rabies is the best way to ensure their safety and yours. ... Dogs and cats should receive their first vaccination at around 4 months of age. For cats we use a feline specific rabies vaccine so it should repeated once a year. This is recommended for all cats regardless of exposure. After a dog receives their first vaccine at 4 months, it will be repeated 1 year after the initial vaccine, and then it will be every 3 years. In San Diego it is required to vaccinate all dogs for rabies. For more information on rabies awareness visit rabiesalliance.org or https://www.cdc.gov/worldrabiesday/index.html

More Pets Go Missing on July 4th Than Any Other Day Of The Year! Even though the majority of organized Fireworks have been canceled this year...these tips can help reduce the stress of your pets as well as reduce the risk of losing them. 1. If you do venture out, make sure all windows and doors are securely closed and shades drawn. Turn on some music to drown out any noise from private fireworks.... 2. Make sure all pets for tonight have their I.D. collars on with your current contact info. 3. Take your dog for a nice long walk or stroller ride before you feel any festivities will start. This allows them to go potty but also reduces stress and tires them out. 4. Never use fireworks around any of your pets....they get spooked by the noise and can get accidentally burned. Please have a safe and beautiful Independence Day! --- your CMRVH team #carmelmountainranch #safepets #july4th #loveyourpet #sheltertosoldier #dogs #cats #pets
