It can be a solace to notice the art on your walls, the kid drawings on your fridge, the photos of family on your sideboard. When we are buried under an onslaught of media, all advertising apocalypse, it helps to have these reminders. Finding strength in the people who you love, who love you, finding strength in your home. We wish for you a haven where you can replenish and the family / community to support you. Just shot our Boccaccio house last week. While the pro shots are being edited, here are a few iPhone teaser shots. The skin is a series of folded steel panels based on the melody of Bowie’s Life on Mars, the favorite song of the owner. Pro shots should be ready in a week. #architecture, #design

We walked onto site, saw the way the light looked with the roof sheathing removed, and immediately began dreaming of ways to create that effect in the finished house. WE HAVE AN ANOUNCEMENT Don’t you love it when friends call you and say they have an announcement to make? It is usually great newsan engagement, an upcoming trip, a new job. We just found out that a beloved project of ours, Residence for a Sculptor, has a write up in Dwell, in the Real Estate section. The present owners say that the house has been key to inspiring their creativity. What more could you ask? IDYLLWILD COMMUNITY CENTER MUSIC AMPHITHEATER This outdoor performance space, in the forest of Idyllwild, California is well on its way to completion. The hope is that this summer tourists and locals alike will be able to attend free outdoor concerts in the woods. A pro-bono project to support the community of Idyllwild, California, Sander Architects is very proud of this one.

It is that time of year when it is impossible to enter a commercial establishment without being inundated with hearts and chocolate. Who could complain about love, chocolate or romance? Not us.
