Sparsely attended November 5, 2019 meeting, but highlighted by Kevin's recent acquisition of an Atari 815 Dual Disk Drive. Photos show Kevin and Bob examining and testing the device.
During our Sept. 3rd, 2019 meeting Garrett brought a custom children's keyboard interfaced to (I think) an Atari 1200XL. Of course Garrett's daughter is fascinated with her tablet, unaware of the historic equipment sitting next to her. Of the keyboard Garrett offered, "This keyboard was developed as a kid-friendly replacement for the standard QWERTY keyboard on most microcomputers of the time. It didn’t come with an associated Atari game, but it did have a driver disk that wo...uld allow you to use the keyboard with existing disk-based Atari educational software. I have been using it with a game called Hodge Podge, where pressing a letter gives you something related to that letter (e.g. V gives a volcano that erupts, O plays Oh, Susanna, etc.)". Kevin brought an Altair 8800 he's working on, Robbie brought the Atari 130XE & Floppy drive & hooked it up. See photos. Kevin won the door prize See more
Atari Booth Photos from Aug 4, 2019 Vintage Computer Festival West
One more 3D photo as Bob W is working on a printed circuit board while Robbie & Kevin are distracted.
Very busy at our monthly SLCC mtg. Heard Ron Devine might be joining us (a member from the past). Someone forgot their Basic cartridge.
Had a nice turnout October 2, 2018 at our Atari users group. Garrett brought some Petsters by Axlon. They were a favorite of Nolan Bushnell.
Just hanging out at our November 6, 2018 Atari meeting, messing with stuff.
VCFW 2018 (Vintage Computer Festival West), wrapped up their two day run yesterday (August 5, 2018). Our San Leandro Computer Club Atari booth won the prize for best display in the show for the 2nd year in a row. The "ribbon" was an 8 inch floppy disk with computer-punched paper tape. So much gratitude to Kevin Lund and Bob Woolley who made it happen by bringing their 8 bit Atari Equipment and setting up the booth. This is so much a labor of love. Everyone pictured, helped. https://vcfed.org//festiva/vintage-computer-festival-west/ and http://slcc.bdgeorge.com.
Nice July 3, 2018 meeting with 9 attendees tonight - Rob, Garrett, Kevin, Robbie, Jim, Don, Edison, Phil and Bill (taking photo). Come see us at VCFW on Sat-Sun, August 4-5, 2018 in Mountain View. 9am-6pm on Saturday, 9am-5:30pm on Sunday. https://vcfed.org//festiva/vintage-computer-festival-west/.
We will have a booth at the upcoming Vintage computer Festival West, https://vcfed.org//festiva/vintage-computer-festival-west/, Sat/Sun August 4-5, 2018 at Mountain View's Computer History Museum, 1401 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View, California. Should be a lot of fun.
May 1st SLCC Meeting Bob worked on a 1050 drive that Kevin had brought for repairs. Don showed up after being gone for years. He's an old member who hadn't been able to come because of schedule conflicts with his job. He'll be moving on to Florida in the future. Robbie brought in an Atari XMM801 printer with fanfold paper for Garrett. There were big cheers when they ran a self test on the printer and it churned away with that great sound they make. Note in the photo below, we are attracting younger members to the club. Jim won the door prize and chose some AAA Duracell batteries that were purchased by Robbie.
Had great SLCC meeting tonight, April 3, 2018 at the San Leandro Community Library. Kevin brought a new Atari book (hardcopy version), "Breakin' The Borders" about the Atari ST, translated from German & nicely illustrated & obtained as part of a Kickstarter project. Robbie brought a reel to reel tape recorder which allowed Garrett to record a tape of his father. Kevin demonstrated a working printer, (similar to Atari 822). And Jim won the door prize. Bob brought the Atari 800XL. We decided to participate in Vintage Computer Festival West on Aug. 4-5, 2018 in Mountain View. See you all next month.
Finally had decent attendance at our March 6, 2018 meeting. Bob W. brought his Atari 800XL setup, & Gary brought a box of OLD Atari stuff. Chips, computer enclosures & some paperwork. Spent the meeting going through it all. Took a few snapshots. Liked that 35+yr old Atari Inspection form.
Happy to report that long time member, Jim won the door prize, a Lenovo Thinkpad at our SLCC meeting last Tues., 7pm, Dec 5, 2017 at the San Leandro Public Library. See our web site at http://slcc.bdgeorge.com for recent meeting notes.
