Chula Vista Silvercrest had our first Pfizer Vaccine day this past Sunday. Thanks to the CVS Pharmacy team, 48 of our senior residents received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine shot. The friendly CVS Pharmacist and Nurse came well prepared and reassured our residents by answering any questions. Recipients filled out online permission forms well in advance of this visit. Our residents spent time socializing with others while maintaining safe distancing and enjoying healthy snacks. ...Silvercrest staff monitored the residents for 15 minutes after successfully receiving the vaccine. No resident displayed any reactions. Wellness Director Karin Ingrande said "With the unending support of our upper management and The Salvation Army we will keep doing our best at Silvercrest to stay safe and successful during the Pandemic."

Our amazing 83 residents at Chula Vista Silvercrest donated brand new toys to the Salvation Army for families in need. The donation bins are overflowing with gifts from the old to the young in the spirit of Christmas to give with grateful hearts for all the support and care the seniors have received this year during the pandemic. God Bless and Merry Christmas! Special thanks to Silvercrest Chula Vista Wellness Director Karin Ingrande for sharing the wonderful ways the Silvercrest seniors are helping to #RescueChristmas.

The Escondido Silvercrest put on an outdoor concert for their residents. Scott Parloh donated his time by performing a variety of music including songs from the 50s, 60s and country music. This was the first music therapy class held at the senior residence since the start of COVID. Masks were worn and social distancing was observed. One resident said This is the happiest I have been in months. I love music! Many residents were filled with joy as they sang and danced to the music in their chairs and balconies. The seniors enjoyed the concert so much that they had already started asking when Scott Parloh could come back!

Residents had fun participating in a Rainbow Hunt by finding rainbow stickers hidden on the first floor and outside patios. Rainbow themed activity packets and coloring pages were enjoyed alongside organic real fruit lollipops. Colorful decorations lined the lobby windows and walls. Last Friday, The Salvation Army, Escondido Corps brought the holiday cheer to the seniors of Salvation Army Silvercrest - Escondido as they celebrated Christmas in July. Christmas meals were prepped for the residents, and given out door-to-door along with holiday treats, gifts and holiday themed activity packs. Even the lobby was transformed into a winter wonder land! Everyone got a chance to add their own custom-colored paper ornament to the tree, achieving a sense of togetherness among the residents. Every day Celia comes to the office to say good morning to the Silvercrest Chula Vista staff. By pure coincidence, today she happened to be wearing matching face masks with Resident Wellness Director Karin Ingrande!
