Everyone’s favorite day is here #NationalDonutDay! Let’s celebrate by looking back at its history. Created by The Salvation Army in 1938, the first Donut Day was a fundraiser during the Great Depression. It was also a way to commemorate The Salvation Army’s Donut Lassies who served the sweet treats to soldiers during World War I. . Today, it’s a time to enjoy a donut (or several) while providing comfort to those in need. Many places are giving away free donuts, so find one now. Then, make a dough-nation to spread goodness in your community at salarmy.us/donutdaysocial

#BlackHistoryMonth Majors Lynn and Osei Stewart (General Secretaries, Metro Los Angeles), with their children Joshua, Naomi, Jeremiah and Noelle. . Black History has been important to our family because it is our history. It gives our family a glimpse of what our ancestors contributed to America and a greater understanding of their sacrifices and struggles they endured so that we may live as free men and women. We must always continue to push forward in that great and ric...h history to make a lasting legacy that will touch lives and create a better future for our people and all Americans. . As we celebrate the accomplishments of Black leaders in our country, we also want to honor Salvation Army officers who have made a mark on both their community and ministry . Captains Purnell and Connie Hall #BlackHistoryMonth . Their experiences pushed us to where we are today while fueling us to strive to create a better tomorrow for the generations to come. . As we celebrate the accomplishments of Black leaders in our country, we also want to honor Salvation Army officers who ha...ve made a mark on both their community and on the ministry. Captains Purnell and Connie Hall are our Corps Officers at the Bell Lighthouse Corps. When they aren't running Sunday service or delivering new programs for the Corps, they love spending time camping and fishing with their two children, Lillie and Josiah. .
