Please welcome our new Corps Officers to The Salvation Army Chula Vista Corps, Captains Adriana and Jesús Quintanilla! Captains Adriana and Jesús have worked for The Salvation Army in many communities including Santa Ana CA, Gilroy CA, and Pasco WA. They each received Associate of Arts in Ministry degrees from The Salvation Army Officer Training College in Crestmont, CA he in 2005 and she in 2016. We are happy to welcome you both to San Diego!

Happy Lunar New Year! The Salvation Army, Escondido Corps celebrated the holiday by preparing traditional dishes and decorations for the seniors at Salvation Army Silvercrest Senior Residence. Chef Dave made char siew pork, vegetable egg rolls, & noodles for the residents. We are happy to be able to find new ways to stay connected with our community. #LunarNewYear #ChineseNewyear

For #BlackHistoryMonth we are honoring the #EverydayHeroes who help make a difference here in San Diego. Meet Colette Mackengel! Colette came to San Diego to escape domestic violence. She was battling addiction and living in her car with her two children. She knew that wasn’t the life she wanted for herself or her children. ... With the help of The Salvation Army, Colette was able to make a full recovery and now works as a Case Manager at The Salvation Army Door Of Hope. For the past 12 years, she has had the opportunity to help other women through the same programs that made a difference in her own life.

The Salvation Army is a friendly face and much needed social interaction for a senior who may be socially isolated during the pandemic. Our holistic approach to caring for seniors in our programs aims to meet their emotional needs along with making sure they are supplied with nutritious meals. Today The Salvation Army East County Red Shield Community Center is loading up their delivery truck full of dry foods in preparation for tomorrow’s food distribution in the back country areas of San Diego. 217 bags of food will be given out to families in need. Fresh meats and produce will also be provided.
