Haunting Things we promised to fix, Like the forever exhale we can’t turn off from those black and have fallen in their own blood Like the odor from old flags and clothes of war being unfolded Like the madness that is sprayed into our faces nonstop until immunity from it is nearly impossible In the night we toss in what we could not fix-at least for now. Could it be our awakeness that keeps us up? how when we close our eyes we are still not sleep, our breath rattles in our dying. We say their names.
