To all our family, friends and customers wishing you a Merry Christmas. Thank you so much for all your support and belief in our program. 2019 was a good year in the show ring locally, state wide and as far away as Texas. We continue to strive to improve within our own program with a little bit of outside help. Our success is due to the many great customers that we continue to have and we thank you for that. That being said we as a family have decided to cut back on numbers i...n our herd. Kari and I are both now retired and would like to spend more time visiting family and seeing the country. For those who breed and sale hogs you know how time consuming this business can be and I’ve been doing it off and on for 48 years. We are going to focus a little more on the purebred side and with much smaller numbers. I also want to thank the families and young ladies who have helped us on the ranch you are greatly appreciated! We currently have some purebreds for May fairs that will be ready middle of January. We will have lots of cross breds and purebreds for June, July and August fairs starting in March. Coming up on Sept. 23, 2019 on Show Pig.com we will be offering 12 select pigs out of our June farrowing. These pigs are out of our new herd boar we call Whiskey Vision and we are extremely pleased with his first crop. Whiskey Vision is out of Red Eye (Red Sky x Sky’s the Limit x Visionary x Triple Crown) and our Sunshine & Whiskey (Ottenwalters) sow which continues to produce champions. These pigs are middle of June born great for jackpots, Western Regional and Arizona National. Pictures will be posted in the next couple of days, you really need to take a look at these! So pour yourself a shot of Whiskey and hang that next banner!

Just wanted to say how fortunate we are here at Salinas River Genetics to do business with the folks at Premier Ag. Glenn and Annie McWilliams always go above and beyond to help us with feed and supplies and focus heavily on customer service for all their customers. They also offered to us, use of their facility for the swine vaccination days for hogs going to Mid State Fair. They also merchandise our pallets of oak wood for us. They have sponsored our annual Spring Spectacul...ar Show Pig Sale the last several years. It is a absolute pleasure to do business with them and would encourage others to do the same. The girls behind the counter are the best as well as the guys in the yard. They treat you like family which you don’t find so much in many businesses today. Another local bred & fed first in class shown by Elizabeth Mintey purchased from us here at Salinas River Genetics. Elizabeth did a great job feeding and working this hog. We had a great Fair with SRG hogs with the kids taking many 1st through 4th in class. We continue to work at improving our sow herd one breeding at a time to provide high quality hogs for exhibitors here locally. Congratulations to all the kids who purchased and showed SRG hogs!

Weaned 7 litters yesterday with 4 more to go next couple of weeks. Most litters out of our new xbred boar Whiskey Vision and we are excited about what we see so far. Come check them out end of August. Pigs good for Western Regional, Phoenix, and Arizona National.

Thank you to the exhibitors and their parents who participated. We vaccinated 35 hogs. For those needing the second shot we will be there again on June 15th from 9am to 12 noon. All those who purchased pigs from us here at SRG for Mid State Fair we gave all our pigs the FluSure shots at and around weaning time so you will only need one 2cc booster shot for your pigs. We can supply you with proof of purchase of vaccine (that we gave) just email the request to our web site.

Mid State Fair Swine Vaccination Opportunity If you are interested in getting your hogs vaccinated to satisfy the requirements for 2019 Mid State Fair, I will be having a vaccination day on May 25, 2019 at Premier Ag. You will need to trailer your hog/hogs to that location and I will vacinate your hogs for you. You will recieve a proof of purchase and vaccination certificate which you will give to your leader/teacher for thier master list to be submitted to the fair office. P...lease have your hogs ear notch and DNA Ear tag number available for documentation. We will start at 8:30am until 2:30 pm. Please contact your breeder that you purchased your hog from to confirm or not that they administered the FluSure XP or Ingelvac Provenza vaccines to pigs that you purchased from them. This will determine whether or not your hog gets one or two shots to cover the requirements. Second vaccination day will be Saturday June 15th to receive second shot of series if needed. If you have back up pigs they need to be included. Your pigs will be receiving the FluSure XP vaccination which covers the three strains of the swine flu Influenza, H1N1, H1N2, and H3N2. Cost is $1.50/shot which covers my cost for vaccine and shipping. This will be done in your trailer, no need to unload hogs. Great opportunity to get your hogs use to loading insteading of waiting until load in day for fair.
