This week, we are joined by Dr. Hammad Khan, a Resident Physician at the University of California Davis Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Science and is also currently a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association as part of the prestigious APA Foundation SAMHSA Minority Fellowship Program. What differentiates Dr. Khan from many others in his field is his pain and focus on providing culturally competent medical services to communities that need it most. In 2016, Dr. Khan was recognized by President Barack Obama for his work in providing culturally-competent care for underserved communities, which he continues through his work in leading a community-based mental health clinic at Shifa Community Clinic tailored to meet the unique mental health needs of minority communities.
