Congratulations are in order! This past weekend, our paramedic program’s lead Anatomy & Physiology instructor, Diane Schoendienst, was sworn into public service for Sacramento County Health’s prehospital COVID-19 response teams. In this role, Diane will be assisting with COVID-19 testing and containment, serving as part of an emerging field of PA prehospital providers. As we continue to navigate these unprecedented times, we wanted to give a special shoutout to some of our current instructors and students who have been working as part of the California Health Corps to help provide healthcare in our communities during the COVID-19 outbreak. Stationed at the Sleep Train Arena, these students and staff have played a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of the Sacramento region. We want to keep all members of the #SacStatePHE community updated throughout these challenging times. As you may know, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Sacramento State has suspended all face-to-face instruction. Due to the nature of our programs, we have had to postpone our upcoming EMT and paramedic courses. At this time, we do not have an approximate date of when we will be able to resume our programs. When we are able to solidify dates, registration for the EMT courses will... reopen on our website, and we will be able to update our paramedic website with new dates for the new cohort. We will continue accepting applications for our paramedic programs with the understanding that start dates of future programs are currently TBD. We thank you all for your understanding and patience during this time. We are of course extremely grateful to all healthcare professionals who continue to work through these difficult times and sincerely hope every person is staying safe and healthy. We hope to update you with more information soon.

This morning, 3 of our #SacStatePHE students had the opportunity to participate in Every 15 Minutes at Inderkum High School, a program geared toward educating students on the dangers of drinking & distracted driving. Our students jump into action at the mock incident scene, treating the scenario as a real-life emergency.
