With all the fires raging around us, your Sacramento Sheriff’s Office is working tirelessly to keep you safe alongside multiple other agencies. To those Northern California communities affected by the devastating fires, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

While you were sleeping, fires continued to ravage California, as well as many other states displacing so many. Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the ...these terrifying fires. Last night, 5 SPD officers and 1 SGT deployed to Butte County to assist with mutual aid for the Bear Fire. Thank you to all those working on the frontlines protecting our communities- stay safe! Deputy Eric Schmidt, our deputy who was critically wounded during a gun battle with a suspect on Saturday, was released from UC Davis earlier today. Eric was pr...oudly escorted home by a parade of law enforcement personnel, where he will continue his long road to recovery. We will remain by Eric and his family’s side as his courageous battle back to health continues. As always, we extend our deepest gratitude to the community for their outpouring of support. See more
