MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR MASSAGE - How to Prolong the Benefits of Bodywork A massage works in wonderful ways, easing stress and pain, calming the nervous system, increasing circulation, loosening tight muscles, stimulating internal organs, and enhancing skin. The multiplicity of physiological responses sends a simple, clear message to the mind: Bodywork feels good. Of course, you want to hold on to that just-had-a-massage feelingtotal body relaxation, muscles relaxed and at e...ase, and fluid movement restoredfor as long as possible. But how long that bliss lasts depends on the state of your body. Whether you get a massage weekly, monthly, or just every once in a while, the following habits can maximize and extend the afterglow of treatment. It was one year ago today we sent out an email informing our clients that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we would have to be temporarily closing our doors. A year of lockdown and quarantine and new health and safety protocols later, here we are. This may not seem like an anniversary you feel like celebrating, but we shouldn’t ignore it. In fact, our collective experiences over the last year have done nothing if not impart very important lessons. In March 2020, when many of us... began social distancing, we had to learn to say goodbye for now to physical touch. So long to hugs, till next time to sharing our personal space. Bid farewell to intimacy with our closest friends. If we didn’t know it then, we know it now: our body craves human touch. Physical connection is vital to our mental, emotional, and physical health. Perhaps most famously, it increases oxytocin (our bonding hormone), serotonin (our natural antidepressant), and dopamine (the pleasure chemical). These are not small matters. We realize now more than ever: TOUCH IS ESSENTIAL. With masks, health and safety protocols, a growing public awareness of how the virus works, and now the onset of a vaccine that in time will be available to everyone, we are beginning to see some of the shroud lifted. Beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and with it, a return to the things that make us human. Many of you have already returned to your monthly/ bi-monthly bodywork sessions (!!!). But for those of you still waiting... We are almost there. Have no doubt: the Sacramento Massage Studio team will be here for you when you are ready! I’ve been proud to be a massage therapist during this time. Like all of us, the last year has taught me a lot, but my conviction that human touch is one of the most important things to our existence has only been reinforced. If you ask me, human touch might be more important today than it ever has been. I am proud of my team, who continue to show up for our clients. I’m proud of my clients, for all they’ve had to endure while they wait this thing out. I am proud of our space, which, through all of this, has never stopped being a beautiful, safe, and healing environment. It will be just like you remember it, if not better. Keep your 2021 calendars openthere’s a lot of overdue human connection in your immediate future. We love you, and we can’t wait to see you.

This hurts. . . . Under the orders of Governor, Gavin Newsom, we must temporarily close. Again.... . . . This hurts because it's the holidays, and we have already been forced to close completely 7 months this year. . . . We have canceled all appointments through December. Many people have reached out asking how they can help. It is touching how the community has supported us. Thank you. We appreciate you! It is not easy times, but we will get through this. When we can, will be here to do what we do best- Keeping you feeling young, relieving old aches, and preventing future injury.. . . . Our goal is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients and staff at Sacramento Massage Studio as well as our community at large. . . #SacramentoMassageStudio #massage #sacramento #massagesacramento #therapeuticbodywork #sactown #midtownsac #sacramentoproud #saveoursmallbusinesses #gavinnewsom #californialockdown #supportsmallbusiness #socialdistancing

BENEFITS OF DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE . . . Eases Inflammation Deep tissue massage increases blood flow in the body which in turn reduces inflammation. Chronic muscle inflammation can damage muscle tissue over time. Who is feeling like this right now? 4 STEPS TO DESTROY STRESS (Besides Getting a Massage) Anti-stress techniques we could all use right now. This year has been unlike anything most of us have seen. I could list here all things wrong in the world, but do we really need a recap of that? We have plenty of reminders of what’s bad in the world.... Now more than ever is the time to destroy stress. It’s time we get aggressive with our self-care. Eating well and exercise is a staple of self-care. But we need to go beyond that. Stress creates extra cortisol in our system, which can impair your immune system and make you more susceptible to high cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. We need to add in something more than self-care, something that transcends mere de-stressing techniques. It’s time to pull out the big guns and add ANTI-STRESS to our regimen. Here you’ll find some 4 steps to destroying stress (stress-destroying habits) that will provide space for connecting to yourself and reclaiming moments of joy. 1. ADD ONE SOUL-FILLING RITUAL TO YOUR ROUTINE EVERY DAY steps to destroy stress What’s the one thing you love that you feel like you never have time for? Playing music? Riding your bike? Writing? Reading? Taking a bath? Turn that guilty pleasure into a nurturing habit. Give it a name and timeframe and write it down to remind yourself. When I get home from work I will work on my art project for one hour Or I will take a half-hour bath every night before bed. If you can’t seem to find an extra 30 or 60 minutes in your day for this ritual, then that might mean you need it the most. Make it your highest priority to FIND THE TIME. Read the rest of the steps here: https://www.sacramentomassagestudio.com/4-steps-to-destroy/

- - I’ve been getting massages here since last year and every time they outdo themselves. I scheduled an appointment recently with Michelle and omg she was wonderful. She said that I was her first client at the Sac Massage Studio but she provided the same excellent service that I am used to from the therapists. I was scheduled for a 1 hour deep tissue and Michelle was sure to focus on all of the parts of my body with extra tension. She was very patient and did a thorou...gh job. The whole experience was very enjoyable I’ll definitely be requesting her for my next appointment. - - Cheyenne V., Sacramento, CA -- Via Google! . . . #sacramentomassagestudio #sacramento #bodywork #massage #massagetherapy #massagetherapist #therapeuticmassage #sacramentomassage #massagesacramento #midtownsac #googlereview #sacramentostrong #sacramentoproud #sacramento365 #sacramentosmallbusiness See more

Give yourself this experience and support our small business in the process. We cannot wait to reopen and get back to the work of relieving your stress. It has become increasingly difficult to manage stress both physical and mental. There are less available options when it comes to improving physical health, and the instability of the world is at the top of many of our minds. 2020 is taking a toll on our mind, body, and spirit. TRUTH: There are a number of important issues ...that need our attention right now. Sure, but they don’t need ALL of our attention ALL of the time, right? NO WAY! Receiving a massage is Wholistic (Wholistic refers to a whole or whole body; taking into consideration the whole body or person. It takes into account the mind, body and spirit). The physical & psychological benefits are vast. Want more information on that? Take a look at our blog: https://www.sacramentomassagestudio.com/wellness-articles/ When you are on the massage table everything around you fades to the wayside. There has never been a better time to have such an important experience. Make a commitment to reconnect body & mind once we reopen by signing up for email alerts (https://www.sacramentomassagestudio.com/be-the-first-to-kn/) or, better yet, buy yourself a gift certificate (https://www.sacramentomassagestudio.com/product/egift-card/)! 12 SACRAMENTO SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS TALK ABOUT SELF CARE We are in the middle of a global pandemic, and a powerful & necessary social movement. If concerns about the welfare of others hasn’t overshadowed your self-care routine, maybe the fact that your typical self-care outlets are closed is having an impact. Many small business owners have been asked about what they are doing to take care of their businesses. A fair question, sure, but more importantly: What about self-care?... This is potentially the most difficult thing a small business owner has to face in their career. The fact is, taking care of yourself is more important than ever. (Especially considering, on top of everything else, that many of our self-care outlets are temporarily closed down). I asked Twelve Sacramento Small Business Owners to tell me how they are practicing self-care. Here’s what they said: https://www.sacramentomassagestudio.com/sacramento-small-b/ The Twelve Small Business Owners we talked to: Adam Attia from Fitness Rangers Angie Franklin from Afro Yoga Billy Ngo from Kru Contemporary Japanese Cuisine Cecil Rhodes from Nash & Proper Clay Nutting from Canon East Sacramento Darcy Kasner from Artisan Dentistry Debbie Rajkumar from Café Connection Caribbean Cuisine Ginger Elizabeth from Ginger Elizabeth Chocolates Katherine Bardis-Miry from Bardis Homes Marlene Goetzeler from Freeport Bakery Maude Schellhous from Sacramento Hypnotherapy Michelle Katnik from TEAMride

We are all about self-care. Angie Franklin from Afro Yoga has taken the time to share these SELF-CARE STRATEGIES FOR BLACK PEOPLE "As a black woman in this time it has not only become important but necessary to strategize and actively participate in self-care practices. With the bombardment of unsolicited inquiries around race many black women are receiving in this time, the first and foremost strategy is to be sagacious in the use of energy and time. . Many of us, like mysel...f, have been pulled away from our day to day activities due to our understanding of the dire importance of educating and responding to issues surrounding race as it pertains to the response of white people at large trying to fix a centuries old issue within a week’s time." . Coronavirus is accelerating a culture of no touching here’s why that’s a problem. Touch has profound benefits for human beings. But over the last few decades, people have become increasingly cautious about socially touching others for a range of reasons. With the novel coronavirus spreading, this is bound to get worse. People have already started avoiding shaking hands. And the British queen was seen wearing gloves as a precaution not to contract the virus. The coronavirus ...could very well have long-term implications for how hands-on we are reinforcing already existing perceptions that touch should be avoided. Why is touch so important? It helps us share how we feel about others, enhancing our verbal communication. A touch on the arm when comforting someone, for example, is often what shows that we really care. People benefit from physical touch throughout their lifespan, and there is a large body of evidence showing that it has the ability to affect both short and long-term wellbeing. For babies, it is even crucial for healthy brain development. Sacramento Massage Studio is Temporarily Closed In our efforts to help flatten the curve, Sacramento Massage Studio will be Temporarily closed Starting March 16, 2020. This is in cooperation of CAMTC and in response to the California Department of Public Health’s guidance on social distancing to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, otherwise known as the coronavirus. To start, we are cancelling all appointments through Saturday March 21st, but will likely go beyond that.... This is breaking our hearts. It was a difficult decision to make and we appreciate your understanding. Our goal is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients and staff at Sacramento Massage Studio as well as our community at large. We do not have a precise re-open date at this time. The status of Covid 19 containment is challenging to predict. MASSAGE BENEFIT: REDUCE NUMBER OF HEADACHES Tight muscles in your head and neck can not only cause local pain but can refer pain to other parts of your head, causing tension headaches.... Massage is effective in reducing the number of headaches per week in chronic tension headache sufferers. The pain associated with such headaches can be alleviated through massage therapy treatments directed at cranial and cervical muscles. Active trigger points may be the underlying etiology of many tension headaches. Researchers of the study are with the Boulder College of Massage Therapy. I had my second massage with Jason and he is excellent! I love coming to this place. It’s relaxing, tranquil, and professional. I recently had a baby and my husband got me a massage for Christmas, and I saw Jason for the first time around March. We discussed my problem areas and he was attentive and thoughtful in his massage. He also went over stretches and things I could do to help with my soreness. I went back today and once again, we discussed my problem areas and i...t was like magic. I highly recommend him! I can’t wait to go back. I also had a massage from Lya last year when I was about 14 weeks pregnant and she was great too!
