As you know, we have closed the range and implemented multiple cleaning and social-distancing measures during this outbreak of Coronavirus and are committed to keeping you up to date on any potential health risks. We, therefore, wanted to notify you of a situation we have learned about recently, one of the exposed employees has tested Positive with a confirmed case of COVID-19. The employee was working at the Range on December 28, 29, 30, and 31. We are asking that if you visited the range on these dates you should monitor your health for 10 to 14 days from the date of your visit and consider getting tested if you exhibit any symptoms. Huge win! 9th says standard capacity mags are legal and protected. We got strict scrutiny on this! Let's see if it goes en banc, but we are in great shape for now! Donate to CRPA to show your gratitude.

Sacramento county has released an updated order that will allow SVSC to reopen. In order to reopen we must adhere to a strict set of guidelines to ensure we are able to remain open. Our biggest challenge in that regard is the tight confines of the existing range office. Therefore we will be reopening in the NEW range office. That poses its own set of challenges we must work through. Range staff is diligently working through those challenges and we expect to be able to op...en on Monday, May 4th. As with everything in these trying times things won’t exactly be back to normal when we initially reopen. With that in mind we will be using the following as a guide during the reopening process: Only Members and their guests for a period of at least 2 weeks. Will be running at limited capacity on all ranges in order to comply with the social distancing orders. Matches may resume; however, match directors will need to submit their plans for safely holding their match to ensure social distancing. Their plans will require review and approval of the board of directors before a match can be held. Wayne Johnson, the FSC board chairman of the shooting discipline committee will head this project. All match directors should provide Wayne with their match plans for review. Wayne will forward completed plans to the board for approval. Vendors may resume training activities but are required to adhere to Sacramento county social distancing policies. They will need to submit their plans for safely having training sessions to the Operations manager for review and approval before the training session can take place. Law enforcement training may resume but they must adhere to Sacramento county social distancing policies. Range reservations will be accepted for all ranges but the person putting in the reservations would be responsible for adhering to Sacramento county social distancing policies. The past month and a half has been a very trying time for all of us. Thank you to all who have understood that we’ve done our best to keep our members/staff safe and healthy, adhere to the state and county mandates, and position ourselves to reopen as quickly as we can. Now, let’s go shoot!

As many of you are aware, there have been some recent developments that may have an impact on our ability to reopen the range. First, the Department of Homeland Security released a document on 3/28/20 that suggests shooting ranges ARE essential. That’s great news! The complete memo can be found here, https://www.cisa.gov//CISA_Guidance_on_the_Essential_Criti Now for the challenge. If you read the entire document you will see a couple of passages that are cause for conce...rn. Specifically, This list is advisory in nature. It is not, nor should it be considered, a federal directive or standard..State, local, tribal, and territorial governments are responsible for implementing and executing response activities, including decisions about access and reentry, in their communities, while the Federal Government is in a supporting role. The question becomes does a federal advisory supersede a lawful order from the state? The honest answer is we do not know. We may get further guidance on this issue as a result of another development. On 3/29/20 a lawsuit was brought against the City of Los Angeles, its mayor and other parties to allow the continued operations of firearms businesses. The complete suit can be found here FPCLegal.org. This is obviously a very fluid situation the Board is following closely. We will do our best to keep you apprised of any new developments.

Message from the President and FSC Board: Due to recent events related to Covid-19 we thought it necessary to update our membership on FSC operations and planning. First we hope that you and your families are safe and healthy. Hopefully you are doing everything that you can to stop the spread of the disease. For those of you considered essential workers we thank you for your sacrifice and service. Our primary focus is the safety of our staff, members, vendors, and patro...ns. FSC is complying with Governor Newsom’s stay-home order under powers granted by the Emergency Services Act. We have closed the range and asked our employees to stay home until the order is lifted. We fully appreciate the impact that our closure has on everyone, whether you are a recreational shooter, competitor, one of our valued training vendors, or any of the law enforcement agencies we depend on to keep us all safe. Our goal is to be fully operational as soon as it is safe and legal to do so. Steps will be taken to assure a safe return. Surfaces and common areas are being sanitized to help stop the spread of the virus. We will also monitor our employees closely for any signs of illness and encourage our employees to self-monitor and not arrive at work if they show symptoms or suspect that they may have come in contact with the virus. We ask that when our range becomes operational that everyone exercise caution before using our range. Don’t put our people at risk. While some of our staff are working remotely, most are on short term paid leave. Our goal is to maintain our staff as best we can. So that we can maintain our staff through the shutdown, we are working to identify cost savings. When the current emergency is over a full staff will enable us to get our operations back up and profitable as soon as possible. Hopefully this will be over sooner than expected and with as little impact as possible. We are anxious for shooting activity to resume and for all of us to be exercising our 2A rights again stronger than ever. Surely the impact of the Coronavirus has made us aware of the critical role that our Second Amendment plays in keeping our families and community safe. If anything, this is an opportunity for citizens to become educated and proficient in the use of firearms by utilizing our facility, taking classes with our training vendors, and joining our community of members. Stay healthy. Stay safe. Be ready to return. FSC Board
