Good news! We are working on plans to have our Santa Train this year. Of course it will be much different than our normal Santa Train Event. But stay tuned for news on Santa coming to the Railroad

Due to the uncertainties this year we were unable to order pumpkins earlier this year. So instead of our pumpkin train we are decorating the track with Fall theme decor. Enjoy a train ride as you check out new scenery. Also we have extended to next weekend too. That’s right we are running the first two weekends. Join us on October 5+6 and 10+11 from 11-3pm. No special pricing, we just suggest a $2 donation per rider. Thanks for your support this year and tell your train loving friends where we are!

In preparation of our Fall Meet I went out to club today to freshen up the station. Stained all the windows, trim and deck.

This is the time of year we start gearing up for our two fundraisers for the year. With all the uncertainties of 2020 and the amount of planning that goes into these two events, the board decided to cancel our traditional Pumpkin and Santa Train events. With that being said we still plan to run on those weekends. However there will be no pumpkins this year and no pictures with Santa. Now the good news is we will run the first two weekends in October and December. Oct. 3+...4 and 10+11 from 11-3pm we are calling it the Harvest Express. This is a train ride thru our area with Fall theme decor. No special fee. We still ask for a suggested donation of $2 per rider. Our Holiday Train will run December 5+6 and 12+13 from 11-3pm. Same thing as above with Holiday theme decor thru the ride. No special fee just the standard donation request We are sadden to cancel these two traditional events as I know many come each year to get their pictures taken with Santa. We will continue to provide train rides and appreciate the community support throughout this year.

Taking a moment today to pause and remember the loss the Rancho Cordova PD and the Rancho Cordova Community experienced two years ago. Thank you for your service to our community.

The yard tracks coming off the steaming bays all needed attention. This yard was done 20 years ago, so most of the ties were just for show now. We replaced the inbound and outbound tracks off the transfer table with Accuties. Next up is the track coming off the Y of the turntable lead. Oh the joys of working on the railroad. Always something. Thankfully we have members that jump in and help get the job done.

This pass week a long time member of 40+ year, Ross Crawford passed away at the age of 91. Ross hasn’t been able to be around the club lately but when he was there you would always find a smile of his face. He always had creative ideas of things we could do. We used his engine for Santa Trains pictures since the beginning of the event until the last few years. You could often find him helping with our various events. Ross will be missed. May we all live a long and fruitful live that Ross enjoyed.

Trains and Kona Ice! Share the news! This weekend from 11-3pm. Kona Ice will be out in support of our public runs. We follow safety guidelines for continued public operations. We clean the equipment between each run and ask for one family per car. We also have gondola cars separating the riding cars. We look forward to seeing you this weekend in support of our public runs. Thank You! See you August 1+2
