Yesterday, the Legislature passed and Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 832, that increases rental assistance payments to 100 percent of unpaid rent, and extends to September 30, 2021 California's current eviction protections for all tenants who suffered COVID-related financial hardships. AB 832 also continues to impose a stay on court actions by landlords to recover COVID-19 rental debt until November 1, and requires a landlord seeking to recover COVID-19 rental debt to provi...de documentation showing that the landlord has made a good-faith effort to cooperate with a tenant to obtain rental assistance. The Housing Is Key website is available in several languages, including Spanish, simplified Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Tagalog. The application and more information about AB 832 can be found here: https://housing.ca.gov/ Today at 4:30 pm the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency will be host a Zoom webinar detailing more about these changes in greater detail.
