Hello all you Guitar Chat fans! Seasons greetings! I hope you and those you care about are managing to stay healthy and safe during the pandemic. Well, I used to try to post episodes of Guitar Chat on Thursdays. That worked for a little while. Then, I noticed that Thursdays would come and go so quickly that I started to miss my Thursday "deadline." As a result, for the purposes of this and all future postings of episodes of Guitar Chat, I have decided that everyday is Thursda...y! I mean, why not? I think Thursday is kind of a good day. Nestled nicely between "Hump-day," and Friday, the fact is you can't get to Friday - much less the weekend - without going through Thursday. So there you have it. But I digress ... Welcome to Episode 18 of Guitar Chat. This episode focuses on "Song Stylist" Nancy Wilson. Nancy Sue Wilson (February 20, 1937 December 13, 2018) was an American singer and actress whose career spanned over five decades, from the mid-1950s until her retirement in the early 2010s. She was especially notable for her single "(You Don't Know) How Glad I Am" and her version of the standard "Guess Who I Saw Today". Wilson recorded more than 70 albums and won three Grammy Awards for her work. During her performing career, Wilson was labeled a singer of blues, jazz, R&B, pop, and soul; a "consummate actress"; and "the complete entertainer". The title she preferred, however, was "song stylist". She received many nicknames including "Sweet Nancy", "The Baby", "Fancy Miss Nancy" and "The Girl With the Honey-Coated Voice." Enjoy! -Lawdog
Hey all you Guitar Chat fans! Well, usually I post episodes of Guitar Chat on Thursdays. Today is Wednesday. But, heck, it will be Thursday soon enough so, ready or not, here it comes. And what a great episode Episode 17 is. (Awkward grammar, I know). In Episode 17 I discuss Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Jazz in LA. That's right - no Sky Hooks involved. Kareem tells us about the Jazz Scene in LA from when he was a younger man. I think you will like it. Hopefully, it's a "slam dunk" :) Enjoy -Lawdog
New articles! New music! It's a whole NEW newsletter!
Well, am I embarrassed. I last posted a Guitar Chat in July! I have so many great excuses I can use, but why bother. My public (my Stepmom really) has been crying out for more! They feel lost when they have no Guitar Chat in their life. (Well, maybe "lost" is too strong a word). But, never one to take my fans for granted (thanks Laurie Rubin ), without further ado (I think four months of "ado" is enough) I am honored and privileged to present to you Episode 16 of Guitar Chat which pays tribute to Congressman John Lewis. Please accept my apologies for making you wait so long. -Lawdog
Hear-ye, hear-ye, a new article - hot off the press ... You Zoom-bies may want to read it ... -Lawdog
Here is an article about I wrote about nonprofit corporations awaiting tax-exempt status from Uncle Sam ...
Whew! That was close! Another Thursday almost slipped by without being able to free myself long enough to post another episode of Guitar Chat! Shudder at the thought! But, without further ado, here it is, the program you've all been waiting for ... Guitar Chat! This episode of Guitar Chat talks about the great Roy Clark of Hee-Haw fame! Let me tell you my sisters and my brothers, when it came to a pickin' and a grinnin', old Roy could flat out bring it with the best of 'em. He was a consummate entertainer. Roy, along with the equally legendary Buck Owens, ruled the tv airwaves for several years on Hee-Haw. No matter how corny the program got (you should check out an episode of Hee-Haw if you can find it), once Roy strapped on his guitar things got serious. As a dear friend of mine would say, Roy was no joke. Enjoy.
Hi there Guitar Chat fans! (Both of you). Rest easy, after missing my "Thursday deadline" two weeks in a row, I managed to get today's episode of Guitar Chat ready for distribution. However, I would not have been able to meet today's "Thursday deadline" without the exceptional support of my crack IT department (i. .e, my daughter). As you might imagine, production of an episode of Guitar Chat is no small feat! As they say, "it takes a village," or in my case, my daughter has to be willing to devote a half-hour to the final production phase. So, without further delay, here is Episode 14 which is devoted to the late, great, San Francisco Giant, Willie McCovey. A great athlete and great person .... Enjoy!
Here is an article I wrote about Love and Taxes .... it is kind of a love story of sorts ...

Here is an article I wrote about a "war story" from early in my legal career ...
Well, its Friday already! I got so backed up on Thursday, that I was unable to drop my latest episode of Guitar Chat as I usually do on Thursday. So, today is a combination of Thursday and Friday. I will call it "ThurFri." Clever, huh? In any event, it is time for another episode of Guitar Chat? This episode if focused on my late criminal law professor from my law school days, Judge Paul Flynn. I remember really enjoying his classes in criminal law at law school. I thought he was a pretty cool dude. Little did I know how cool. We lost Judge Flynn earlier this year and I thought it would be special to focus on Judge Flynn in this episode of Guitar Chat. Enjoy.
Hey Nonprofits -- Listen Up!

This episode features my nonprofit, Guitars 4 Justice (guitars4justice.org). Guitars 4 Justice raises money to help fund other nonprofits that support the homeless. Please visit guitars4justice.org and donate today. And now, ladies and gentlemen, how about a little "Ice Cream Man" by Van Halen ... -Lawdog
Here is an article I wrote on nonprofits and so-called compliance matters. Check it out.
Hello Guitar Chat fans. It is Thursday and you know what that means ... another episode of Guitar Chat! Oh, and sorry about missing last Thursday, my IT Consultant, aka my daughter, was "busy." So, as a result, Guitar Chat was "busy" and I missed an installment. Such are the vagaries of IT Consultants and daughters. This episode talks about George Floyd and Resistance Music. Please enjoy.
Here is an article I wrote about "Default Judgments" in California. Enjoy.
Can't be. Is it already Thursday again?! You know what that means. Another Episode of Guitar Chat! Sounds too good to be true, I know. But - it's true! In this episode I discuss a couple of people who we recently lost whose lives were very much guitar-centric. These are not celebrities, just two ordinary people whose lives and spirit warrant that we take notice. Enjoy!
Time to drop some nonprofit, tax-exempt knowledge on y'all ...
