Tomorrow, Friday June 19th, is the day slaves were emancipated (truly freed) across all states, in 1865. 157 yrs after The Emancipation Proclamation, 155 yrs after Juneteenth, 143 yrs after Jim Crow laws, 56 yrs since the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965, and 53 yrs Loving v. Virginia, we still have work to address 246 yrs of slavery and 155 yrs of discrimination and incarceration. That’s 401 years of chanting but not having #lokahsamastahsukhinobhavantu. .
