Downey Rotarians in Action. Thank you to our Downey Community who donated household and baby items for our Camp Pendleton event...

This past week, Patricia Megallon State Farm Insurance Agency and the Rotary Club of Downey collaborated to support the Los Alamitos Casa Youth Shelter. The 43-year old organization's mission is to temporarily shelter, support, and counsel youth in crisis, with the ultimate goal of reuniting them with their family. The partnership of Patricia's Agency and Downey Rotary is a demonstration that support of the community extends beyond the Downey City limits, especially in what Rotary calls "Giving Week" and during the Covid 19 pandemic. Twenty pumpkin pies, 40 loaves of bread, 20 boxes of donuts (the bread and donuts c/o Steve Ballesteros-Bimbo Bakeries) were distributed on Monday to the shelter, and Downey Rotarian Barbara Lamberth was on hand generating labels. Thanks to all who contributed!

In recognition of Rotary International’s celebration of Literacy Month, Downey Rotary President Will Medina and distinguished Rotarian Lorine Parks present a check for $800 to Ben Dickow, Director of the Downey City Library. The club is proud to continue its decades-long tradition of donating books to the children’s section of the library on a weekly basis.
