The Homeless crisis is a major issue in Los Angeles. Whether it be a lack of affordable housing, mental illness, substance abuse or poverty, as a community we must be willing to address this issue. In 11 years, Hope of the Valley has become a leading provider of housing and homeless services in the San Fernando Valley. What a fantastic project to donate and make over 200 sack lunches. These bags will be distributed to the homeless and food insecure all over Hollywood today. There will be 4500 bags from people all over donating! Super proud to support them!

Yesterday and today preparing sack lunches for Rotary Woodland Hills all delivered to Sheri Polak so the homeless in our community have food to eat What a great project! Drew and Jordy did it all by decorating and filling bags . Charity, Tzedakah, Justice .

When Rita Lurie was five years old, she was forced to flee her home in Poland to hide from the Nazis. Rita, and her daughter Leslie Gilbert-Lurie co-authored the book, "Bending Toward the Sun", which brings together the stories of Rita, Leslie, and Leslie's daughter, Mikaela...and reveals how deeply the Holocaust lives in the hearts and minds of survivors and their descendants. As a result of the pandemic, Optimist has pivoted and increased support to those who need it during these challenging times. This includes opening a new Tempor...ary Shelter Care program to provide girls age 12-17 from the Department of Children & Family Services who are essentially homeless due to placement transition, a nurturing and safe place to stay. Today we celebrate the grand opening of the program and we invite you to join us virtually in congratulating those who made this program possible !
