After Fivers are supporting the North County Food Bank's "Scare Hunger Away Peanut Butter Drive". Peanut butter is delicious, nutritious, a great source of protein and has a long shelf life, but it is expensive. Please join us in helping the North County Food Bank keep our families fed during these extraordinary times. You can drop off peanut butter at the Love Aquarium located at 2203 East Valley Parkway in Escondido between 11AM & 6PM or donate virtually at, https://www.fooddriveonline.org/northcounty/LoveAquarium For other drop off locations, visit https://northcountyfoodbank.org/pbdrive

The check for Officer Brett Byler and his family was presented by After 5 Past President Al Owens and Juan Magana from Sierra Madre Cantina. The funds will be used to establish college funds for the children. Thank you After Fivers for supporting one of our local heroes as he battles his cancer.

@Rotary_5 is happy to be a sponsor for the August 29, 2020 fundraiser in benefit of Brett Byler's family. Brett is one of our Escondido Police Officers, who is suffering from an aggressive form of brain cancer. John Magaña, owner of Sierra Madre Cantina and staff, will generously donate 10% of the day's proceeds and 100% of the tips collected. The event is from Noon to 4:00 pm and raffle prizes will be available during the event. Please stop by and/or order food to go to support Brett, his wife Mariah and his three lovely little girls.

Johnson/Rotary After 5 Scholarship recipients received a $400 Visa gift card for the purchase of books and/or other school supplies. This is in addition to a laptop and accessories that was supplied to them at the beginning of college registration. They also received a copy of the San Diego/Union Tribune newspaper where they were featured earlier this month. Thank you, Laura Groch at UT for recognizing the efforts of our amazing youth. These young people will be future edu...cators, mechanics, first responders and more. Thank you Cal Coast Credit Union Branch Manager, Mary for facilitating the issuance of the gift card without fees so the students can use 100% of the scholarship toward their education needs. Evelyn Zamudio, our 2017 Rising Star and Johnson Scholarship recipient was also given a new scholarship and received a $500 gift card so she can continue her efforts toward a career in Education. #rotaryafter5

Nine years ago, an intrepid group of Rotarians chartered Rotary After 5. From the first moment, they set out to make a positive difference in Escondido and the world by focusing on supporting our Youth. By providing scholarships and mentoring opportunities, they pave the way to success for our future leaders and professionals. In the past nine years, Service Above Self has expanded to include our homeless Vets, our brave Warriors overseas, support of the Police Athletic Le...ague (PAL), COMPACT, and Felicita Elementary, Mission Middle School and Valley High School have been "adopted" to ensure that students have what they need all along their education journey. Our members have brought Christmas joy to families, and provided support for our health workers and students during this Covid-19 Challenge. As you can see in the second photo, good deeds keep you young! Our founding members look better now than in 2011. Please visit our webpage to see a few of our activities and if you think that you would like to be part of this proactive organization, contact us. https://portal.clubrunner.ca/10127/ Happy Ninth Anniversary, @rotary_5!! #RotaryAfter5
