A good question is what problems did this Prophet 5 rev 2 not have? Finally finished this after over a year of on and off work. This was modified many years ago with a big chungus hole with some weird computer port and a while new fuse holder instead of fixing what was already there. One bad SSM2030, one bad SSM2050, countless bad resistors on the voice board, many deceased CMOS, many mods removed. Switched the EPROM’s to 2716’s with RIKU, new ribbons, and added Kenton midi t...o cover ol’ chungus properly. Of course then it received all new badges. All new DAC resistor scheme and all calibrated too. Oh, and probably much more that I’ve forgot about now. Total nightmare of a rev 2 but its super super stable and tunes up great. Even better is that its out of here. Two more of these to go now before we’re all out of prophet rev 2’s in the house. #hashtag See more

In today’s edition of I made this for me and the two other people who need it we now have Oberheim OB-8 midi boards for those who have pre-midi OB-8’s. It doesn’t do anything the factory board doesn’t, and is compatible with the original B5 firmware or the expanded Tauntek firmware which is awesome. Cool and rare studio electronics prophet 5 rack mount chop. This one fought with all its might but was bested. Greg from SE told me how apparently the voice board was chopped and then re-traced with wires by some workers in Ventura county after work hours as some textile plant or something. Fun fun fun but seriously this is actually a great sounding prophet 5! While I would love to Prophet off of it, I can’t but @technoempire can as it’ll be for sale through them soon I presume! Before someone asks, yes it’s literally just a prophet 5 with the boards mounted in a rack mount. No sound difference. It also only weights about 5 pounds!

It’s no secret that we get to work on the coolest synths ever for the coolest people ever. This one, though, it’s especially cool because it still belongs to its original owner and was very much used (and abused) on early Tangerine Dream records and live performances. Christopher Franke asked us to give his EMS Synthi VCS3 a full bill of health and to spruce it up cosmetically from ages of duct tape and other ailments. Happy to say it sounds pretty f’in sweet. Every once in a while we get to experience a vintage IC reissued! Most of the CEM’s are back, and now the SSM2040 core is back with the SSI2140! Yes, the chip also has some other new functions, but those can be conveniently bypassed to give us a drop in replacement for the über super super mega rare SSM2040 filter IC found only in a few synths, most notably the Prophet-5 Rev 1 and 2. And of course we got early samples and designed a cool adapter board and have tested it with ...2040’s intermixed with it and it’s SPOT on! Now available on our website pre mounted on the adapter.
