Art Amidon Shock of all shocks! I got the word after tonight's board meeting that they are laying me off "to save money", while we are winding down in our chapter 11 BK. Admittedly, I have been under a lot of stress and may have been less productive in some of my obligations, but no one there knows what I maintain and do on the day to day basis on the political environment to serve and maintain our existence and fight to preserve our social model, 12 step philosophy to run this organization that I have served for 29 years. no resentment here, I guess it's just time, God's will and I am into acceptance. just want all of you alums to know it has been a blessing to know and have been a small part of your success and growth. don't worry, I'm not going anywhere, just have to regroup and discover what God's plan is for me. I love u all.

Looking through some old photos (summer 1982) when I was living at Glenwood Acres and ran across this photo of Bob Husted at Bart Allen's wedding. Bob was a mentor and great friend. I'm gonna miss you.

Dear Friends of Roque Center, The Holiday season is a wonderful time of the year. It is a time when we gather with our families and friends to enjoy the familiar traditions and reflect on our blessings. But for those who are fighting addiction, it is a time that leaves them especially vulnerable. Sometimes they feel that that they are on the outside looking in as they spend every minute of every day trying to resist the temptations that threaten to undermine their efforts t...o stay clean. It takes a great deal of courage and support as they struggle to walk the path of recovery. The Roque Center is a private, non-profit organization devoted to helping people with alcohol and drug addiction in Orange County. The Center was founded in 1972 by individuals who had successfully achieved recovery and wanted to reach out to others who were still in its grip. Since then, we have helped more than 34,000 clients receive quality care and treatment using a State-licensed and certified residential, social model recovery program. You may have a family member or know of someone who is suffering from addiction. This disease does not just damage the person afflicted, it touches the lives of every member of his or her family and the community as a whole. A healthy family and thriving community depends on healthy and thriving individuals. In this season of giving, we hope that you will consider making a donation to The Roque Center. We are grateful for any gift, no matter what size. It can be a one-time donation or an ongoing monthly one. Since we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, your gift is tax deductible. 100% of your gift will go directly to the Build the Roque Center Fund. Please help us continue the level of care that we currently offer to our clients. Life is too precious to be wasted. Help us help them take charge of their lives so that they can return to their families and communities and become the wonderful person they were meant to be. With deep gratitude, Art Amidon Executive Director Roque Center, Inc 9842 13th St. Garden Grove, CA 92844 (714) 839-0607 fax (714) 839-5396
