We hope they aren’t needed, but the City of Rocklin, California Government has put on extra staffing to ensure the best response should it be needed. #independenceday #july4th #celebrate #freedom #firefighter

Engine 23 assisted one of our citizens with an accidental vehicle lockout. The driver pup with the keys was a very playful 8 week old puppy that really wanted to help our crew by playing with our tools inside the car as they freed him. He was let out in quick time and reunited with his very happy mom.

Nothing is tossed out until it has been assessed for a training opportunity! This old file cabinet was a perfect chance for one of our new probies to get some saw time. Being comfortable with the saw can be the difference between a successful rescue and a body recovery. Every step and movement has to be natural and without a second thought. Train like your life depends on it.

First responder and military families know first hand the sacrifices made during the holidays. Missing your young children scream in excitement as they find what Santa left for them under the tree can be difficult. It’s one thing for your formal leader and Fire Chief to send an email during the holidays thanking you for your service and time spent away from your family, but it’s an exemplary level of leadership when your Fire Chief reports to duty. This morning our Fire Chief Reggie Williams reported for duty at shift change for a five hour firefighter shift on Engine 23. He did this so that one of our members could be home Christmas morning with their young children. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what leadership looks like.

How much water do you think we can flow from the discharge in the center. While there is no hard answer, because it’s all relative to conditions, the rough number may actually surprise you. So roughly how much can we pump through the discharge in one minute?

Rocklin Firefighters, Rocklin Police Department and South Placer Fire District responded tonight for a reported solo vehicle accident. RFD Engine 23 arrived to find conditions as reported, with a power pole taken out and energized power lines down with a small fire being started. Crews had to standby for PG&E to arrive and de-energize the power lines before the fire could be extinguished. Fortunately there were no injuries but power in the Sierra College and I-80 area will be out for some time. City of Rocklin, California Government
