We talk a lot about work ethic. It’s a requirement to be a successful farrier. If you are looking for an easy life, being a farrier is not for you. If you are looking for a fulfilled life and you love the feeling at the end of a hard day’s work, you might be the perfect candidate.
**Fun Fact* The speed of hoof growth of a foal is twice that of an aged horse. Foals growth is approximately 0.42mm a day. A mature horse is about 0.20mm a day. This means that the change in the hoof of a foal can require more maintenance to keep proper angles and hoof form. The foal can grow a full hoof wall length about every 4 months. Yearlings are roughly 9 months. Aged horses are closer to 11 months.... Please have your farriers check and work on the babies so they can help them to develop correctly as they mature.
