Riviera Pools and Spas

1998 - Hazy Residence (Beverly Park): Thirteen pools, spas, and fountains on this one 12 acre estate.

2003 - Blumenthal Residence: Newport Beach swimming pool and spa with a 14 foot Aquarium embedded in the deep end wall. Additional features include a fiber-lit water wall, separate spa, and walk-over Koi pond at the entrance.

2012 - Brentwood simplicity done right, with an automatic cover, glass tile and a ceramic-quartz finish.

2014 - Fun and Done! Our Thrasher Project was truly a joy to work on, as the project manager, Bob Berg, was an absolute pleasure to work with. We hope to do many more projects with Bob and the Owners, in the future. On to the next.

Another monument to all that is L.A. and it's outdoor environments. We are building a 100 feet long spillway style pool and spa - built over and next to the underground garage. Residence is to be +/- 20,000 square feet of living space with a garage that can handle 6 - 7 cars. Additionally, the front entry way is located on the second floor and the walkway is suspended over a large waterwall and related basin.

Another example of a dual purpose pool/spa installation that allowed us to solve a huge structural dilemma. Instead of having two structures side-by-side, we inserted the entire pool structure in place of the house foundation in order to have the wall of the house go straight down to the floor of the swimming pool. Dual benefit: thinner foundation - pool becomes the house foundation. We love pools like this! Far more interesting than just a standard water hole.

This is the pool and spa we built for Ms. Tori Steele at her Malibu based kennels where the world's finest Wire-Haired Fox Terriers can be found. If you look carefully, you can see one of these "beauties" standing on the coping across the pool, near the King Palms! The pool has a massive foundation built below the pool to accommodate the rather bad Malibu soil in this region. Additionally, the pool has two small spillways that project out and around the "King Palm Island", and spill down into a basin behind the raised wall.

Just completed a light re-hab of the swimming pool at THE STANDARD in Downtown Los Angeles. We did an all-nighter, and three to four hours the next day, to complete the remodel two days ahead of schedule.

We neglected to post a previously completed custom spa installation @ the old Gary Cooper Estate in Holmby Hills. This spa is located about 50 feet away from the remodeled pool project shown below. This all tiled spa has a custom-sized fully retractable cover to allow quick and efficient heating. Additionally, the entire spa is covered with recycled glass tile for easy maintenance and cleaning. With two dedicated spa booster pumps, that do not run any of the jets, the heating system is dedicated to only the heat cycle and filtration, thereby maximizing heating efficiency.

Getting close to the finishing touches on one of the most unusual pools we have designed and built, in quite a while. The pool is comprised of a large 10' x 50' long lap pool, with the shape of Germany laid over the top of the rectilinear form, and a large 27.5' x 4' x 2.5" acrylic panel separating the pool and spa areas. The objective is to not see a barrier wall between the pool and spa. The water level in the pool will be set to just three millimeters below the level in t...he spa. The shallow end is a large Baja shelf with the stairs pushed out toward the lap pool portion. The pool has seven color changing lights, three Swim Jets driven by two 4 h.p. german-designed Speck pumps, two large underwater speakers and 30 small color changing lights around the entire rim of the pool and spa ledges all set in an underground equipment vault. The pool has been specifically designed for alternative sanitation and will likely have three different types of sanitation not centered on a salt or chlorine environment. The spa has been designed around the owner, as she is 6' - 2" tall and clearly needs a custom spa to accommodate. As the pool has two complete sets of equipment, heating will be a "breeze". Additionally, the pool and spa walls, and part of the floor, are all clad in Kirkstone (an amazingly dense stone that will stand any chemical or etching environment), and the rest of the pool and spa surface will be done in matching Hydrazzo (a form of underwater Terrazzo).
