River Island Country Club is accepting applications for part time restaurant front of house positions. Hours are flexible, must have food and beverage safety certificate. Pick up applications in the restaurant Wednesday- Sunday, 8:00am- 2:00pm. NO phone calls or messages.

The Porterville Education Foundation will be holding its annual golf tournament on Saturday, March 6, at River Island Country Club with a noon shotgun start and... 11 a.m. registration check-in. Teams of 4 are $500 and $125 for individuals. There will be a raffle drawing, as well as mulligans available for purchase at check-in. All proceeds will fund scholarships through the Porterville Education Foundation. PEF would like to thank its corporate sponsor, Mangini Associates, for their help with the tournament. Please make sure to bring a mask as required for indoor facilities at River Island based on current COVID-19 guidelines. River Island is excited to announce that at long last, we have some fundraiser tournaments on the schedule! We love to support local charitable organizations. And, of course, this support will be taking place while strictly adhering to current COVID-19 guidelines. River Island will be open for non-member play after 10:00 starting Saturday, May 2. The shop will be open Friday to take tee times at 784-9425. Strict social distancing policies will be enforced. Each golfer will be given a copy of the plan upon checking in. The clubhouse will remain closed, but a beverage cart will be on the course. See you soon!

At the directive of Governor Newsom, River Island Country Club is closed until further notice.

Updates: Starting Friday, March 20th, the clubhouse is closed. Bar service for "pre-packaged" beverages, i.e beer, is available through the window by the BBQ from 8:00-3:00. No cocktails will be served. The kitchen is closed, but the BBQ will be open 11:00-3:00 Tuesday-Sunday. All surfaces will continue to be sanitized frequently. A bar cart will be available on the weekends. The golf course continues to be one of the safest places to be. Break that cabin fever and call us for a tee time at 784-9425!

The golf course is open and surprisingly busy. The status of the restaurant is changing on a daily basis; today we have cut the dining area in half, in addition to the exceptional sanitation measures being taken. We will update as we receive directives from the health department. For now, we will not require cart sharing and will waive the single rider fee. However, we only have 70 carts. If everyone chooses to take their own cart, it dramatically decreases the number of rou...nds we can accommodate. Therefore, until the situation changes, carts are not guaranteed to be available. They are on a first come, first served basis, and carts cannot be reserved for later rounds. For your safety, our staff is continuing to sanitize the carts twice daily. We are strongly suggesting that for now, to prevent the touching of the flagstick and the cup, that all groups play gimmes. Once your ball is within a putter length of the hole, pick it up and record the score you most likely would have made. Of course, if you happen to drain a 20 footer, you’ll have to pick it up out of the hole, but let’s be honest, how many of you have the skills to pull that off? We still have bulk round packages for sale through the end of March. The rounds are good for 12 months after date of purchase. 10 rounds for $300, 20 rounds for $500, and 30 rounds for $650. If you are self-quarantining, you can call in with a credit card and the rounds will be waiting for you next time you come up.

River Island wants to assure our customers that we have increased our usual sanitation efforts facility wide during this fight against COVID-19. Steering wheels of golf carts are being disinfected every night. All door handles and knobs, tables and countertops, chair armrests, etc are being disinfected multiple times per day. Since all large gatherings are cancelled, this is a good place to be! It's easy to keep the "social distance" recommended, and our facility is as clean as it can be.
