Our Mission Statement: Returning men and women back to society. Founded in 1964, River City Recovery Center has evolved into a comprehensive residential treatment program which addresses all aspects of the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction.... Our intensive primary care residential treatment program for women is conducted in a large early-twentieth-century homes in the historic midtown neighborhood of Sacramento. Our primary care program for men is conducted in a rural setting, on a 15-acre ranch in the small community of Herald, on the outskirts of Galt. In order to provide a safe, structured, low-cost living environment for those who have completed treatment and are preparing to return to family and society, we offer three transitional/sober living facilities in midtown Sacramento. There are separate homes for men and for women. For those who need to be stabilized prior to commencing treatment, we maintain a close affiliation with several long-established detoxification facilities. River City Recovery Center is licensed and certified by the State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs. Our staff is well-trained, experienced and caring. All counselors meet the requirements set forth in the Alcohol and Drug Counselor Regulations adopted by State ADP in September, 2007 and engage in continuing education throughout the year. Members of the staff hold certificates from authorized certifying organizations, e.g., Breining Institute, Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADAC), Consortium of Addiction Program of Professionals (CCAPP). All River City Recovery employees are themselves in recovery.

When we come into recovery, we don't know what we believe, and we definitely don't believe in ourselves. Let others love you and believe in you until you can yourself! #keepgoing

The first thing that we need to do is change the way society views addiction! "What engenders such unbearable pain in human beings that they would knowingly risk their very lives to escape it? The answer is trauma: deep, unresolved trauma that imposes a lifetime of suffering, fear of reality, isolation, hopelessness and an urgency to alter one's experience. This is where addiction comes in."
