Our heart goes out to the students of take Risuke Sensei, guardian and teacher of the Tenshin Shden Katori Shint ry. It goes without saying that his model ...as a teacher and martial artist has deeply inspired all of us who follow a true path in Bud, regardless of discipline or tradition. We are thankful that the many students of this cultural treasure will continue on preserving his work, and his spirit will illuminate for generations to come.
Longer workouts are better for burning fat, right? WRONG. There’s a specific workout that takes less than 20 minutes to activate the metabolism and it keeps o...ur bodies burning fat for 2 days after it’s over! That means less time working out more fat burning. I’ll explain how it works in the video below:

I have some amazing news to share. Yesterday morning I had a wonderful 20 minute phone conversation with Quintin Chambers. He is in good health (considering his... age) and still living here in Hawaii. He is retired from teaching ESL at UH, but still teaching Shinto Muso Ryu Jodo on a limited basis when not in Covid lockdown. While on the call he reminisced about the 10 years he and Donn Draeger trained together with Hatsumi Sensei in the 60’s and early 70’s. I told him the Stick Fighting book he did with Hatsumi Sensei is still my favorite book on hanbo and is required reading in my Dôjô. He said he had to climb a tree to get the overhead shots, which was very uncomfortable and he almost fell out several times. I gave him a short update on what is happening in Japan, as well as a personal message from Hatsumi Sensei. I also gave him best wishes from some of the original Hawaii Bujinkan students who trained with him here in the 80’s-90’s. He asked me to give Hatsumi Sensei, Ishizuka Sensei and everyone of the old timers that may remember him his best regards. He also sends Aloha to all of us training in the Bujinkan and to that first group of Buj students living in Hawaii who also trained with him in the late 80’s-early 90’s: Robert Abilia (Hawaii Boy), David King, Shane Layton and Kelly Leighton. We plan to meet in person for coffee after the restrictions are lifted and I hope to interview him more in depth. I would appreciate it if any of you living in Japan would pass this message from Chambers Sensei to Hatsumi Sensei, Ishizuka Sensei and others who may know him. That was the start of another awesome day here in Paradise! See more

When Takamatsu Sensei passed away I had to switch to solo practice. The kind of lonely practice where you can't float in space is dangerous. This is due to t...he accumulation of your ways of thinking, common sense, knowledge, etc, sometimes it becomes a weight that prevents you from floating in space. What I teach now is a martial form born of the natural world. In other words, I'm passing the strategies of Kyojitsu between eternal and magnificent light and shadow, manifested in space. This means this light is one of a kind that is impossible to physically or scientifically search. Through staying on the road this beam of light will light anyone's heart.
