Rise Up: Youth Program for the Performing Arts

We have re-structured our teaching positions to allow those with more restrictive schedules to work PART-TIME! Now, teaches can chose to work a 2.5 hour ($200), 5 hour ($400), or full time ($600) position! We are hiring for 3 positions: Theatre Teacher, Dance Teacher, and Music Teacher. Our staff teach three blocks of classes in the summer camp schedule, with three different age groups. Responsibilities include creating and implementing a dance curriculum; teaching students in the summer camp setting; organizing and facilitating a safe and supportive learning environment; and designing, coordinating, and leading students through a chosen performance project to be presented on t...he last day of camp. Teachers will also be expected to prepare for each class and perform some minimal cleaning duties as needed. At least one year of experience working in a performing arts setting is required. One year working in an education or child-care setting is preferred. As a condition of contract, Independent Contractors will need to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19. See more

We are so excited to officially announce our return to in-person programming AND a return of one of our most popular programs: the Summer Arts Academy day camp! We love this camp, our parents love this camp, but most importantly...the KIDS love this camp! The Summer Arts Academy is an two-week, all-day (Monday-Friday) camp offering participants the opportunity to learn all about the three areas of the performing arts by taking classes in those disciplines: music, theatre, an...d dance. All classes are taught by passionate professionals who are knowledgable in their craft and love working with students. These classes are NOT traditional. You will never walk into one of our classes and see students sitting at desks! Students work on performance projects in this class, and it all culminates in a final performance for friends and family! As enriching as these classes are for students, there's so much more for students to enjoy at camp! Each day is FILLED with games and enrichment activities that emphasize FUN and socialization. These activities are an opportunity to the camp staff to get creative with activities outside of the performing arts. We've done everything from making postcards to making s'mores! Our camp operates from 8:00am-5:00pm, with grace periods for pick up (7:30-8:00) and drop off (5:00-5:30). In total, our camp is open from 7:30am-5:30pm! This means that working parents can utilize our camp, and all it has to offer. We also provide FREE breakfast and lunch to all students, thanks to a partnership with MJUSD Summer Meal Program! Other than quality, experience, and hours; our camp is unique in one final way...cost! We strive to ensure that our camp is accessible to all students in our community, regardless of family financial status. We are so excited to bring back a staple of our last camp with our Sliding Scale Fee Platform. Parents simply fill out our online registration platform, their fee is calculated based on income, and a custom online pay portal will be sent to the parent.
