Yesterday marked 14-days deployed for RVFD Firefighter/Paramedic Matt Ramold. Firefighter Ramold has been deployed to Long Beach in support of the State of California’s hospital system who is battling the COVID-19 surge. He is in good spirits, is being treated well by hospital staff; and, although it’s been a long two weeks, he has agreed to extend to 21-days. RVFD is a proud supporter #MutualAid throughout our State. ... *Station 55 remains fully staffed. All costs associated with his deployment are reimbursed to the City.

RIO VISTA AND ISLETON FIRE DEPARTMENT DEVELOPING A JOINT VISION FOR FIRE PROTECTION AND DEPLOYMENT IN THE DELTA AREA: On Tuesday, February 2, 2021, the Rio Vista City Council approved a conceptual agreement that will allow the Rio Vista and Isleton Fire Departments to work together beyond the constraints of a traditional mutual aid agreement. The agreement will now go to the City Council of Isleton for consideration. The Agreement, referred to as a Joint Operations Agreem...ent (JOA) authorizes the Fire Chiefs to work together on a joint vision, share resources and develop standardized operating guidelines. The southern Sacramento and Solano County areas are unique in their needs and risk. Creative solutions will assist both agencies in more quickly and safely mitigating incidents, while being prudent with taxpayer funds. Current arrangements, such as Rio Vista’s ‘water tender’ being deployed from Isleton, will be continued for the foreseeable future. This has proven to be invaluable to the Delta Fire District as well as other Districts in Sacramento County. As both Cities grow, the potential for larger incidents increases. Having the Fire Departments work together to standardize training, operations, and guidelines, will ensure life and property are better protected in the respective jurisdictions. #YourLifeOurMission Isleton Fire Department

RIO VISTA FIRE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES INCREASED STAFFING AND CAPABILTIES: The Rio Vista Fire Department (RVFD) is pleased to announce, that with the support of the Council, City Manager, and the Community, staffing and capability levels will be increased in 2021. Staffing at Station 55 will be increased each day to five (5), allowing for the professional staffing and response of multiple fire apparatus. These increases come as a result of several years of data analysis, a need...s assessment and a risk analysis. Because we are a small agency, we can be flexible with how we approach these increases, and we will ensure our responses are cost-effective and appropriate for incidents; however, having this capability is a milestone for Rio Vista. Initially, our goal is to staff Engine 55 and Truck 55 daily. We will continue to evaluate the model we use to serve the Community and look for improvements including the integration of a light vehicle (or Squad) in the future. This increased staffing reflects a major advancement in the capability we have as a Fire Department to respond to, and mitigate, ‘all-hazard’ incidents. These increases will positively impact public safety and the health and safety of our firefighters. These increases will allow us to provide mutual aid to our County partners, while maintaining station coverage in Rio Vista. As mentioned above, these advancements and increased level of protection are only made possible with the support of the City Council, City Manager, and the Community. We would like to thank everyone for their support! All of us at RVFD look forward to continuing to find innovative and efficient ways to serve you better. #YourLifeOurMission

Did you know, a closed door can save your life Closed doors can limit fire spread and reduce damage to your home. More importantly, it can save your life if your sleeping. Fires are moving faster in modern construction and in homes with modern furnishings. Although California requires all new construction homes to have residential sprinklers, and while we hope everyone has working smoke detectors, we still recommend closing doors when you are sleeping. Here are some t...ips for you to consider: Close doors when sleeping. A closed door will give you more time to react, escape or call 9-1-1 if a smoke detector sounds. Close doors behind you if escaping a fire. Never block doors or windows. Firefighters may need to use doors to control the fire and may need to rescue you through a window. https://closeyourdoor.org//sleeping-with-your-bedroom-door #CloseYourDoor #CloseBeforeYouDoze #YourLifeOurMission
