Meet David Borrego, who shares his thoughts on representation in the tech industry: "In the past, companies have been able to justify the lack of Black American representation within the tech industry as a pipeline problem. Given today’s climate however, social pressure has been applied towards the tech industry to address the low percentage of Black Americans. As a result, we have seen more tech companies acknowledge the issue by implementing initiatives to address this. ...Hopefully we will see structural changes put into place from these companies in their hiring and recruitment processes in the near future. I would really like to see the industry invest more into Black owned businesses directly. In general, companies rely far too often on personal relationships to select vendors and partners, which has hindered black owned businesses from breaking into the industry. The tech world, whose main driving factor is innovation, has the unique ability to spearhead initiatives and an all around diverse way of thinking that could revolutionize the way corporations do business.
