Most Americans take the water systems that bring clean water to and from their homes and businesses for granted. They turn on the tap and flush the toilet without thinking twice about where that water came from or where it will go. But could you imagine a day without water? Without safe, reliable water and wastewater service? A Day Without Water = Crisis A day without water means no water comes out of your tap to brush your teeth. When you flush the toilet, nothing happens. F...irefighters have no water to put out fires; farmers couldn’t water their crops; and doctors couldn’t wash their hands. A single nationwide day without water service would put $43.5 billion of economic activity at risk. In just eight days, a national water service stoppage would put nearly 2 million jobs in jeopardy. A day without water is nothing short of a humanitarian, political, and economic crisis. While unimaginable for most of us, there are communities that have lived without water. From man-made tragedies in Flint, Michigan, to water scarcity issues in Central California, to wastewater runoff in the Great Lakes, water issues abound. There are millions of Americans living in communities that never had the infrastructure to provide safe water service, relying on bottled water and septic systems each day. America can do better. The problems that face our drinking water and wastewater systems are multi-faceted. The infrastructure is aging and in need of investment, having gone underfunded for decades. Drought, flooding, and climate change stress water and wastewater systems. Although these regional challenges will require locally-driven solutions, reinvestment in our water must be a national priority.
Please be advised that we are currently experiencing a water leak which is requiring emergency repair. Customers in the Sonata and San Pasqual areas are affected and will be without water service for the duration of repairs. We worked through the night and all of today and water service should be restored soon. We are sorry for the delay and thank you for your continued patience.
Today Rincon Del Diablo Water District's Erin Lump (Vice President), Greg Thomas (General Manager) and Josie Traslavina (Acting Director Finance) along with Esc...ondido's Fire Prevention Team, Fire volunteers and the Burn Institute installed smoke alarms and Carbon Monoxide detectors into mobile homes at Rancho Escondido For information on the installation and maintenance tips for smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors please vist the Escondido Fire Department web page at: https://fire.escondido.org/smoke-alarms.aspx
We all want safe drinking water for every Californian, especially those living in disadvantaged communities. Rincon Water is committed to working with local and state leaders on this critical social issue. But SB 623 is not the answer. It would turn our agency into a taxation entity that sends money to Sacramento. It also has other flaws. Simply put, it is just not sound policy. For more information, and the contact emails for the Appropriation Committee Assembly members, please go to http://www.rinconwater.org/images/SB-623-FACTS-8-22-17.pdf. Write directly to the members of the Appropriations Committee today! Deadline is TOMORROW 10:00 AM to have your voice heard!
Rincon Water is proud to support the Urban Water Institute (UWI) as a sponsor of its 2017 Annual Water Conference. UWI provides non-partisan information of timely and pertinent interest to the water resource industry, including public agencies and private firms, with particular emphasis on water economics, management, and resource policies as they affect consumers and the general economy. We also congratulate our director, Dr. Greg Quist, who was elected as UWI’s Board Chair for the next two years!
RINCON WATER IS NOT IN VIOLATION OF ANY HEALTH-BASED DRINKING WATER STANDARDS AS ERRONEOUSLY REPORTED BY EWG. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) recently released an update to its National Tap Water Database that indicates more than 250 chemicals and 160 unregulated contaminants have been detected at unsafe levels in drinking water in communities nationwide. This information potentially misleads the public about the safety of its drinking water. While the EWG database r...eflects water quality data from nearly 50,000 utilities nationwide, it compares the data against public health goals for contaminants rather than legally regulated maximum contaminant levels. As a result, EWG’s report presents an inaccurate and misleading interpretation of the safety of drinking water in California and other states. EWG indicates on its website that it does not consider state and federal regulations stringent enough to protect public health. EWG also encourages consumers with unsafe drinking water to purchase water filters using the group’s Water Filter Guide. See more
