The DMV will resume Behind-the-Wheel drive test this Friday, June 26. Currently only previously cancelled Drive Test are being rescheduled, new appointments for Drive Tests will be available later this Summer.

Once you have completed your Drivers Education requirement and are age 15-1/2 or older this is your next step. Remember once your get your permit, you must complete your 1st driving lesson to activate your permit.

Newhall DMV has reopened for limited services. Lancaster DMV and other surrounding area DMV offices have opened or are reopening

If your permit expires in March, April, May, June, July or August 2020 you will have an automatic 6 month extension. We will continue sharing updates as new information is available.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 8, 2020 DMV Extends All Temporary Driving Permits... Covers driver license permits and commercial learner’s permits expiring between March and June No action necessary on the part of drivers Sacramento The California Department of Motor Vehicles is extending driver license permits and commercial learner’s permits expiring during the COVID-19 pandemic. Driver license permits expiring between March and June 30, 2020 are extended six months or to a date 24 months from the date of application, whichever is earlier. Commercial learner’s permits expiring between March and June 2020 are now valid through June 30, 2020. The extensions require no individual action on the part of drivers. The DMV is extending these permits for those who may not be able to get a driver license or commercial driver license while behind-the-wheel drive tests are suspended. The DMV has alerted California law enforcement of the extensions. California drivers may continue to drive with their expired permits. Californians with a suspended record are not eligible for the temporary extension. The DMV continues to provide essential services via mail, online, kiosks, call centers, available business partners and virtually to process critical transactions, including eligible driver license and vehicle registration renewals, during the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 Update for Drivers Training Right Way Driving School has temporarily halted Drivers Training lessons due to the Safer at Home order. We will resume DT lessons as soon as this order has been lifted. This may be a good time to allow your permitted driver to practice when you need to run essential errands.
