Ride with Tommy! 05.11.2020

And today's Ride is outdoors and mostly down hill! #throwbacktuesday to last weekend (August 22, 2020). Since we had to cancel our annual ski trip to Mammoth this past March due to the Covid stay-at-home orders (as well as all of our summer travel plans) and we're not ready to get on an airplane to travel anywhere yet, we decided to drive up to Mammoth for a long summer weekend. Lots of hiking and mountain biking. Beautiful! And fun! #mammoth #elevation #theride #cycling

Well, that didn't last long. I was able to teach one class during the reopening. As most of you know by now, gyms in LA are closed again. It's a bummer, but let's do what we have to do to beat this thing! I'll miss you all until next time! Stay well, stay safe! In good health (now more than ever)! #indoorcycling #spin #spinning #ride #workout #gym #fitness #fitfam #lockdown #quarantine #mask @ Crunch Fitness

Hey Crunch Fitness, the weight is over: it's time to CRUNCH again! We have the green light to open our doors on Friday, 6/12. Safety is our number one priority for our members and team and we will be taking no shortcuts! Stay tuned to see our updated cleaning + workout protocols. We cannot wait to welcome you back! We're open 8am - 10pm #LetsCrunchAgain There will be a few classes this weekend, but they will definitely be easing back into a full schedule. Listen to General Manager Michael Morawski's story for more information. I'll also let you know as soon as I know anything. Thanks for your patience!

Instagram is filling up with black squares to protest against racial inequality and police brutality. The simple posts are a way of expressing solidarity with Black Lives Matter protests that have swept the US after the death of George Floyd. To join in, users simply post a black square onto their feed and then commit not to post over the rest of the day.... The movement is part of "Blackout Tuesday" that is intended to allow people to consider how best to fight against racism. Black Lives Matter. #blackouttuesday #theshowmustbepaused

I'm very proud to announce that I have been asked to be a part and am currently sitting on the Board of Directors of the Del Shores Foundation. It is the Foundation's mission to find and develop new southern LGBTQ writers, and to help develop their work by working with professionals across the film, television and theatre industries. Our first fundraiser is happening tonight at 5pm pst/8pm est. It's a live reading of Del's original play, Sordid Lives. An auction is also taking place. 100% of the funds raised go to support theatre companies across the south that have been hit hard by this pandemic's shutdowns and stay-at-home orders. Please help if you can!

5 things NOT to do on Memorial Day By Rachel Engel (police one.com) 1. DON’T WISH ANYONE A HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY... This is not Christmas Memorial Day was not founded in joy with the promise of brining glee each year. It was established as a way for the country to set aside time to honor the troops who had given their lives in service to America. Despite what the day has transitioned to in American culture, it was established to honor and remember America’s fallen. 2. DON’T THANK THE CURRENT TROOPS At least, don’t thank them just because it’s Memorial Day. They deserve respect and gratitude every day of the year, but this day is set aside specifically for America’s fallen warriors from every war. America’s veterans are honored during November on Veteran’s Day, when we aim to remember and appreciate the sacrifices of all veterans. But, Memorial Day allows the country to focus on those servicemembers who are no longer with us an important distinction. 3. DON’T DISREGARD ITS IMPORTANCE Though discounts abound for nearly everything, that’s not what the holiday is about and when we focus only on them, we allow the true meaning to become lost. This isn’t something we can allow to happen. Don’t forget to raise a glass in honor of those servicemen and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice. 4. DON’T FORGET IT EXISTS Even worse than allowing the day to become synonymous with deep discounts and potato salad, is letting it slip from the public’s mind completely. When it becomes simply a highly-anticipated extra morning of sleeping in, instead of the day of reflection and appreciation it was meant to be, we disrespect our fallen troops. 5. DON’T LET POLITICS KEEP YOU FROM RENDERING RESPECT Even if you don’t agree with the idea of war, or the reasons America goes to war, or the policies of a particular president who was the Commander in Chief during a specific war, it doesn’t matter. People have defended the people and interests of America for over 200 years, and your right to disagree with the reasons for war should be separate from your opinion of the troops themselves.

I'm a couple of hours late, but happy National Siblings Day to my siblings, Opie, Tammy and Susie!

I hope everyone is staying safe, self-isolating, self-distancing, staying inside as much as possible, and washing your hands often. I miss everyone and hope we can flatten this curve and get beyond this sooner rather than later. I realize that I'm very lucky and I'm so grateful to have my amazing family and that we are healthy. I can't wait to see you, shake your hand, hug you, Ride with you or just walk by you closer than 6 feet away! Until then, please take care of yourself and let me know if I can help!

Recent announcement of gym closure by Crunch Fitness on Sunset @crunchsunset. I will miss seeing you all, but I look forward to seeing everyone healthy again as soon as possible! I know that this is a difficult time for all of us. Especially for those of us who work in the industry. But also for those that depend on us for the improvement and/or maintenance of both our physical and mental well-being. Stay active even if it is in your own home! Order food from stores and resta...urants for delivery to help support those businesses. Only order or buy reasonable amounts of goods. Be aware that others need those same goods, too. If you do feel sick, call your medical provider/urgent care/ER to determine your best method of action. We will come through this on the other side stronger and even more aware that there is so much more that unites us than that which divides us! In good health and with much love, Tommy See more
